To regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited, and for other purposes.

The GOP will save us.

Pandering to his base, no more than that.
Yes no attack should go unnoticed or without counter.. but up in arms (pun intended) about this I can not get.

Sarcasm aside, the Democrats will definitely not save us. And a more pure 3rd party would save us in their party platform only, while losing at the ballot box. So what is the alternative?

Single issue voting.

Single issue voting for whom? For which party?
Your second amendment rights are ultimately dependent on who the POTUS nominates, and who the U.S. Senate confirms, to the SCOTUS. Beyond that, your second amendment rights are dependent on your state legislature (who would be voting on any proposed changes to the Constitution).
With respect, you can single issue vote for an independent or libertarian all you like, or just stay home in protest, but it won't help the situations that ultimately affect your second amendment rights.
Sorry for straying from the original topic.

As I pointed out in an earlier thread handwringing about this, this has as much chance of being passed and becoming law as I have of welcoming Big Foot and the Abominable Snowman at my home for dinner tonight, both wearing identical pink tu-tu's.
There are several thousands of bills submitted every Congress, only a tiny fraction of which will be approved, and only a slightly larger fraction of which will even be called up for a vote. Most are referred to committee, never to be read or see the light of day again, save for the lobbiests and tub thumpers in the sponsor's district who put him or her up to submitting it.
In case those two worthies happen to read our Forum, we're having Dover sole, Hasselback potatoes, a nice salad with a bottle of a delightful New Zealand sauvignon blanc, and peach, praline and walnut pie for dessert, just one of a long list of delightful benefits of marrying a French woman.

This is exactly what I mean. The only alternative isn't a great one. We've already seen where so called "conservatives" will pass $1+ trillion budgets, so, the best you've got is to pray that someone supportive of #2 gets into office. ie - Not Hillary/Bernie. Don't split the GOP (that would guarantee a Dem win), and also pray that Bernie decides to go 3rd party. As far as congress goes, getting people in there who don't draft stupid bills at all is good as well. As stated, most bills don't see the light of day outside of a committee -- but if it's never referred to committee, it has zero chance of getting out. If it gets referred, there's a possibility.
And you are further correct in that the state legislatures are as important, if not more important, than US Senate/House.

All bills are referred to committee, usually by the Speaker in the case of the House.
In the House, bills then are referred by the Speaker, on the advice of the nonpartisan parliamentarian, to all committees that have jurisdiction over the provisions in the bill, as determined by the chamber’s standing rules and past referral decisions. Most bills fall under the jurisdiction of one committee. If multiple committees are involved and receive the bill, each committee may work only on the portion of the bill under its jurisdiction. One of those committees will be designated the primary committee of jurisdiction and will likely take the lead on any action that may occur.
Even in the unlikely event this bill is reported out favorably, (odds approximately zero) there is no chance whatsoever it will be voted on the the full House, not in this Congress.
It was introduced for the sole purpose of giving the sponsor(s) the chance to talk about it in the next campaign, showing (s)he is responsive to his or her constituents, etc.

My intention was to allude to the bill never being written, therefore never referred.

Ahh. You must have misunderstood what I read. It can happen when folks allude.
Carry on.

Your second amendment rights are ultimately dependent on
you. The government may attempt to prevent you from exercising your rights but it is up to you whether to allow them to or not.

Yes, it is ultimately up to you -- mostly/specifically how you vote.

Too bad we can't get a top notch lawyer to sue their sorry rear ends for waisting time and paper putting together that piece of trash. That's the most arrogant, ignorant bunch of wormy sacks of crap I've ever seen in my life. It's fixin' to get ugly real quick. Lord help us.
