Can the new mayor legally get an exemption and ban open carry through out Houston? It seems as if he wants to start stripping away at Houston's guns rights.

Nope, it's kinda like the UT anti campus carry people whining and groping about campus carry. :leaving There is only so much the mayor can do, the law is the law, and as long as we have a mostly conservative legislature and a conservative governor, we will enjoy or open carry rights. :cheers2:

To the new mayor wanting to rid Houston of guns I say: molon labe!!!!! :fire

Texas Constitution wrote:Sec. 23. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime.
As you can see, only the Legislature can do that. :tiphat:

I appreciate the clarity on the concern! I actually feel a bit relieved this Monday morning.
