I can understand his point of view from his perspective in France and many other European countries where people are not allowed to own guns, or keep them in their homes, let alone carry them around concealed. It's a stupid opinion, but I understand it from his viewpoint. Now, if only he'd take a look at the rest of the world. It seems like someone here, in the US, uses a gun for self defense almost daily.

Before you pop off like that, recall how many times we have been embarrassed by idiotic sounding statements said, or nowadays tweeted, by Americans, or slightly worse, people claiming to be Texans.

He is no different really, than most of the US elite, except his French might be better than John Kerry, who fought in Vietnam Nam. Thinking of all the stupid things Kerry has said makes you wake up screaming in the middle of the night.

At least Araud had the presence of mind to realize how dumb a thing it was to say and delete it.

On the Megyn Kelly show last night (hosted by Sandra Smith), a typical liberal nitwit woman stated the D.C. chief of police advocated D.C. residents attack armed terrorists while remaining unarmed themselves.

The opposing opinion offered by a Conservative women suggested the Chief allow more concealed carry permits as very few are approved. Then, she suggested they could be more effective in stopping terrorists.

The liberal nitwit kept shaking her head, with a no, no, armed citizens? Are you crazy? Then, she allowed that yes, maybe armed citizens would be a good idea if they were highly trained.

So, she and the French diplomat are in agreement. Guns are mostly bad for responding to terrorists.

One can and should attack absurd statements that have a negative impact on personal freedom, regardless of the source. Araud didn't delete his tweet because he realized it was wrong, but, in his words, "it was of no use." Then he reaffirmed his position and went on to say that citizens defending themselves with their own guns only happens in Hollywood. That's not an opinion, that a blatant lie. As an Ambassador, he must be at least reasonably educated. If he's going to try to defend his country's laws that create unarmed, defenseless victims by making a statement about private ownership of guns for self-defense, then he should at least check the facts in America. If he did, then he knows his statement was false and he's a lair. If he didn't, then he's willfully ignorant of a subject on which he is speaking and that too is a liar. I strongly suspect the former.

BTW, I am half French so I can pick on them as much as I like.

I'm afraid that this thinking is shared by some of our Canadian brothers also. My wife attended a seminar attended by two RCMP Officers also. The Officers were appalled that she owned and could use a pistol.

My favorite wife is French, my current wife as well.

I think it's an interesting fact.

Living in movie land is awesome. One can own as many guns as one wants, store as much ammo as one wants and have great peace of mind knowing that whatever evil may arise, homegrown or imported, one has a fighting chance to stop it or take a few of the sub human creatures with them.

France just got beat up pretty good so I hope the majority of the disarmed Frenchmen and women would not agree with this politician. I imagine many of the French are pondering the lack of means for resistance heavily. Europe is in a pickle. If they don't start resisting in both directions they're going to lose it...

I'm confused. Doesn't the Ambassador expect police to arrive on scene with weapons in hand to put a stop to the violence?

That's your opinion and when you get to be a moderator you can censor what's posted, until then, many of us don't care to be PC.

If I find I don't like or agree with something, it doesn't make me phobic (man is that ever an overused word beloved by the left) it simply means I don't like or agree. Nor does disliking or disagreeing about whatever doesn't make a bigot either. The word 'bigot" is another quick label word meaning I'm a racist if I dislike or disagree about a given subject.

The left just loves to label those they are "Phobic" about (thought I'd use their favorite word) like pro-gun people.
