Incredible! Frivolous bills introduced that will go nowhere. Someone should introduce a bill to prohibit the introduction of frivolous bills!

What immediately comes to mind is an auto dealer sells a car to someone, and the driver of that car later on is involved in an accident which results in the death of another person.

Will Sen. Kaine introduce a similar bill relating to the sale of a car?

Two thoughts.....

First, there are thousands of bills introduced each Congress. Only a small fraction are ever voted out of committee. Bills are introduced to satisfy supporters, give the incumbent something to list as having done in his/her reelection campaign, and get/give the winks from lobbiests.

Second, every time the Socialists start thumping the tub about this stuff, there are fewer of them after the next election. What's so bad about that?

The stupidity of some never cease to amaze me. Given some of the idiot higher ups in the GOP at this time, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if this were to somehow become law. However, I seriously doubt it would ever hold up in court. This sounds eerily similar to those that would like to see a business that posts 30.06 signs be held responsible for a CHL that were injured during a robbery because they were left defenseless. Although, we used to say that was never going to happen, a McDonalds had a ruling go against them for something very similar. It did not involve a CHLee and I don't know if this is final yet.

That's the problem. Where does it end? People that sell cars, knives, baseball bats, hockey sticks, rope, plastic bags, ...

I doubt that McDonalds ruling will hold up, but we've seen stranger things from the high courts in recent years.
