A "gun shop" that suddenly appeared in the heart of Manhattan last week only to close its doors after two days was actually an elaborate ruse by a pro-gun control group that sought to lure potential customers in order to make their anti-firearms case.
States United to Prevent Gun Violence set up the "Guns with History Gun Shop" on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and pretended to offer for sale guns used in high-profile crimes. The phony sales pitches were really part of a "social experiment" -- pretexts for telling customers about the dangers of gun proliferation in unconsummated transactions recorded by hidden cameras, according to the group. In one such conversation, the bogus clerk shows a replica Bushmaster assault rifle like the one Connecticut State Police said Adam Lanza used in the Sandy Hook school massacre.
“Collectors love this one," the actor states in a video the anti-gun group posted on YouTube. “Adam Lanza’s mom had this in her collection, too, until he took this and several other guns and killed her and then went down to Sandy Hook and killed 6 teachers and 20 innocent children. Twenty little kids…Gone like that.”
"It’s a great gun to carry in your purse, like that gal from the Walmart, her two-year-old son reaches into her pocketbook, pulls it out, shoots her.”
The enemies of freedom have no limits as to how far they will stoop.

Hope they continue to waste their money.

I'd like to see them try this in Texas.

That ruse was not cheap. Someone/something put up quite a few dollars to fund that charade.

Probably paid for by the city, or bloomy, or some combination of the two.
Of course it's not as if some of us haven't used a similar tactic. Back in the Compuserve days we had a short lived "gun control" forum whose title implied that it was what the anti-rights folks thought it was, but it was actually about tips and techniques to improve accuracy by properly controlling your gun.

I could have had so much fun with them.

I wonder how legal it all was? Who purchased or donate the guns for this shop and did they have the proper licenses to sell?

For something like this in NY, they probably had the governor's blessing and help getting it done.

I find it funny someone would not buy a gun after someone told them it was used to kill "whomever". I own several 1911's and glocks; got any idea how many thousands and thousands of people have been killed by those models alone?

They were all props. If you watch the "employee" rack the shotgun you can see the bolt doesn't open.

That would have been when the fun began.

Weren't they claiming it was the actual gun used to kill someone, not just the same model like 1911's and wartime but the very gun?

I know there are some stupid people in the world but would anyone actually believe that a gun store would have THE weapon used in a mass murder?

Ever watch Jay Walking when Jay Leno was on? Watters World segment on O'Reilly? Election results from 2012/2016? I'm pretty certain there are plenty of people that stupid.

We need to create a video that shows the guns used by responsible gun owners to save lives. Something like, "and this glock semi automatic pistol, was used by a person with a concealed handgun license to stop a robbery, and save the lives of the families in the vicinity. The moral is, responsible gun ownership."
