BO suggests that the US ban all autos and semi autos and broad confiscation of firearms just like Austrailia.

President Barack Obama Tuesday suggested that the U.S. government should follow Australia’s example in dealing with shooting sprees, which involved strict gun bans on semiautomatic and automatic weapons.

“Australia had a mass shooting [in 1996] similar to Columbine and Newtown, and just said, ‘That’s it, we’re not seeing that again,’ and basically imposed very severe tough gun laws and they haven’t had a mass shooting since,” Obama said, after he was asked for his reaction to recent shooting episodes in California and Oregon. Those laws included the confiscation of nearly all handguns and rifles.

They will never stop.

That ain't gonna' happen, he has nothing to lose by running his mouth about our guns. Never lose sight of the fact that he did not elect himself.

Sure, the mass shootings stopped. The mass murders didn't. They just switched to burning people to death. Maybe they should ban matches now?

Well, I'm sitting here in Perth, Australia this week as I write this, and you should have heard the comments from the peanut gallery today when someone raised this story (yes, it was covered down under).

My Aussie friends down here know I'm a gun owner (and some know I'm a CHL holder), and they have such a hard time understanding our culture in the US. It's sad to see how the gun bans down here have affected the local citizenry. It seems they've lost any understanding of personal responsibility for self protection and protection of their families. Just trust the government - it will make everything OK!

Even after a short time, they've lost any will they may have had to own a firearm. Amazing how easily the entire culture has been programmed to think this way.

I do enjoy it down here - the people are great, and the weather is nice and cool since winter is about to set in - but I'm looking forward to being back in the US next Tuesday, and strapping my Sig back on when I get to the house (for at least a week and a half before I head out to Milan).

Wait, that can't be true, because the antis keep saying nobody wants to take our guns.....they're just for "reasonable" laws, like background checks and registration. Over and over I've heard that Obama doesn't want to take our guns. Someone must be trying to smear the guy.

Whoa there....you give them too much credit....they don't have "hearts" --at least the kind you suggest. If they could round us all up and exterminate every last one of us who reject their Marxist utopia they would. Just go read their comments on one of their websites like HuffPo or the Daily KOS. Since the One has been in office they've been emboldened to express their true desires and they openly call for those that disagree with them to be killed. The want control, nothing less will do; and they don't care how many lives they have to destroy to get it.

I have an anti-gun acquaintance who likes to breathlessly say that "nobody is trying to take your guns!". In the next breath he'll talk about getting rid of semi-auto rifles, etc. I called him out on it yesterday when I said that the President himself held up the Australian gun control approach as the model for our country. The silence was deafening.

The Aussies don't understand our culture, I'm not surprised. Even back to the ratification of the Constitution it was acknowledged that the right for private citizens to keep and bear arms was almost completely unparalleled across the world. I can point out until I'm blue in the face how what "works" in the UK and Australia does not and could not work here for any number of factors. I feel like I'm shoveling sand into the ocean anymore.

And btw, now I'm glad I sold all my semi-autos awhile back.
