Looks like the BATFE couldn't handle all the comments. Originally they planed to implement in June 2014.
The issue for those that haven't kept up with Class III rules.
- Texas allows for common folks to own Suppressors, Short Barreled Rifles, and other Class III items.
- The 1934 law requires paying a $200 tax on each item
- The BATFE requires a sign off from the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) for individual but not for Corporations or Trusts. Many Texans in Harris County and other metropolitan areas have formed Trusts because CLEO's will not sign off. The BATFE wants to change the rules to require a CLEO Sign off for each member of the Trust. There were nearly 10,000 comments during the comment period. The BATFE needs more time to process the comments.
I would sill like to see the State of Texas REQUIRE CLEO's to sign off for CHL holders in a timely fashion.
