The way this article is worded is beyond "stretching" the truth.
.......
.The weapon, given to Alton by his uncle, was made of wood, belts and plastic tags and was capable of firing 74 rounds of ammunition
.........police found a 'bizarre' homemade weapon capable of firing rounds of exploding ammunition
Thank you God for letting me live in Texas!

When I see something concerning the UK attitude and laws on guns and knives, I just chuckle a little, pity them, and move on.

So many weird things in this article. Makes me very glad in live in Texas.
1) The weapon was capable of firing ammunition that would mushroom on hitting flesh. You mean like hollow-point ammo??? Strange concept for those in the UK apparently.
2) Since he had 74 rounds of ammo, the gun was capable of firing 74 rounds. I suppose if he had 5,000,000 rounds, the gun would be capable of firing all those as well......
3) When he was initially pulled over , he was arrested when police found a work knife in his jeans. That turned into a charge of having an article with a blade or point - specifically a lock knife. Oh the horror.....
The weapons laws in the UK are over the top and have been for some time. Sigh...

But the U.K. is one of most peaceful, law abiding, ah wait, I forgot - It's just the opposite and if guns were ever needed by non-criminals, it's the U.K. which is absolutely brimming with violent criminals.

Police had been called to his home after a fierce row in which 51-year-old Alton wielded a lump hammer at his wife Kim - prompting her to tell officers about the hidden weapons.

DV will get you in trouble every time. I had to go look up what a "lump hammer" is. I have one and didn't know it. If someone were chasing me with on of those, I'd be tempted to rat him out to the po po, too.

A bunch of my co-workers from the UK are coming over in January for our company all-hands meeting. We are shooting clays one day and going to the range another. They are stoked!

Roadrunner, these folks (5 of them) are ALL pro-gun as I found out on my last trip to London. They hate the fact that their RTKBA and to self-defense is severely limited. They would make great patriots.

my son's church had a program a few years ago where they invited students from France to come and stay a couple of weeks with members, and he always had one stay with his family (next door to me). We would set up one day during the "vacation" and take 6-8 of them to the range and let them shoot everything from .22 cal revolvers, semi-auto's, .30-30 lever guns, to 12 ga shotguns. During their stay here in Texas they always got a group trip to Six Flags and usually a trip to a Rangers game. The ones that got to make a second trip the next year always begged for another trip to the range first. Most of them had never even held a "real" gun until they visited Texas, but took a lot of valuable experience back to France with them. I still don't par-lee-voo frencho though

A lot of the headlines from the Dailymail seem to be about stories from the U.S. Perhaps there is nothing going on in the UK that is worth reporting.
