Angry at Sprouts!

Hi, it's nitrogen. You might remember me from such threads as, "Wow, a liberal gun owner? Amazing!" and "Thank God I'm not in California anymore!"

I've been away for a while, mostly because real life has kept me far too busy to keep up with things here. Today, I went to go shopping at one of my favorite food stores, Sprouts. I was surprised and shocked at what I saw in the window.

Yep, one of THOSE. I am hoping I'm not the only person that enjoys these stores for their low cost, yet high quality foods and meats. Their bacon is awesome, and so is their ground beef.

So, please! If you used to shop at this store, please take a moment to write to them explaining why you can no longer shop there. I've attached below a copy of what I wrote to them. Please do likewise.
I wanted to let you know that your chain has lost my business, because of the new 30.06 signs banning concealed carriers from your store.

I went to shop at the store above, only to notice that it had a 30.06 sign that bans concealed carry in Texas.

Here's a picture of the sign I took.
http://i.imgur.com/A5HsrkY.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I wanted to let you know about the customers you are telling you no longer wish to shop there:

1) We go through an extensive background check. We have NO felony criminal records at all.
2) We have no class A or B (basically major misdemeanors) on our records for the last 5 years.
3) I've passed a stringent federal and state background check that verifies my status for points 1 and 2.
4) I am not chemically dependent on illegal substances, nor have i been declared mentally "defective." (Thats the legal term used in the law. I know it's awful.)
5) The state of Texas keeps detailed records of how many CHL holders are convicted of crimes, vs the rest of the population. You can see that information here:
http://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/chl/reports/convrates.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was very happy when I saw this store open nearly across the street from me. I was very disappointed when I saw you no longer wanted my business. To tell you how serious I am about good grocery shopping, I will now make a 30 mile roundtrip to Central Market in Plano. I will also pay more for their groceries than you charge, all because they respect me more than you appear to, and they welcome my business.

I also want to let you know that I will be telling all my conceal-carry friends to be sure and no longer stop at your stores. I have started this by reporting your location to a website that lets others know of businesses that don't appreciate their business. You can see your current entries here:

http://texas3006.com/view.php?postedsea ... me=sprouts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Please reconsider your policy banning concealed carriers from your stores. I want to be able to shop there again. I'd love to discuss the matter with you further.

You might also add how that creates the perfect environment for a crazed person to pull off a mass shooting because they know that they will not be met with any resistance. :fire

Just sent them my notice. We need to stand together on these types of things. There is strength in numbers. If enough of us write and let them know we wont' be shopping at their store maybe it will get them thinking about what they've done.

Oooooooooooo very disappointing. I was a Sprouts regular. This has to be pretty new.

I'm going to start my email "Pursuant to...".

My wife will be checking the Cedar Hill store to see if they are posted. If they are she will be having a conversation with the manager and of course we will be writing a letter.

Never mind common sense. Let's just give 25% of our tree hugging loon customers a fake warm fuzzy!

Sprouts lost my business when they "merged" with Sun Harvest here in the Austin area and promptly closed down all of the Sun Harvest Stores. When Sprouts first opened in the area I tried them for a year. The quality of their produce declined rapidly after the grand opening and it got to the point where I just stopped going because I'd go for the big inexpensive produce items and find the quality was just so poor that I couldn't buy it even at such great prices. It was terrible. I LOVED my Sun Harvest, and I kept shopping there when it became a Sprouts because they promised they'd have the same quality items and the same store managers and everything. Then they up and closed it, and the employees I'd known for years couldn't tell me anything about what would be happening to them. We'd been shopping there since my oldest was a baby, and both of my boys cried when they realized they wouldn't see Brenda and Vicki anymore. I wrote to Sprouts and let them know they lost a customer over the way they handled that.

Thinking about this topic and how it's combated. Maybe we need to make up a standard document that we can hand out to the manager at each store posting a 30.06 sign, stating all of the obvious negatives, how social media might be used to blackball them. Not a twitter or facebook user myself but perhaps something along that line with instant messaging to Texas chl holders is needed. Most stores can't afford a 2% drop in business, the percentage of chl holders in Texas. The 30.06 website that I have seen does not seem very effective. Never heard of Sprouts until today but doubt that a few emails to them will make a difference. If thousands can be mobilized to rob stores in Chicago with Twitter we should be able to mobilize a bunch of Texas chl holders to protest a store ( or chain), Loss of income hurts these people. I would even get a Twitter account if such would work. We need some computer guru to help with this. Perhaps this could even be a national thing to fight stores that have gunbuster signs in other states as well. Can you imagine the response of a chain if 100,000 twitter hits complained at once.

Well, this just really chaps me! I LOVED Sprouts.

Now, it's back to Central Market for my produce.

Very disappointing on Sprouts part.
It'll be interesting to see if they take these signs down
