Stopped by DPS to see about getting Valid Texas ID should there ever come a time when Other forms of ID may have been lost or misplaced.

Valid form of ID include One each from various categories. Birth Certificate and another ID such as a SS card will work.
What Will NOT get you a valid Texas ID is a Texas DL with picture issued by the Sate of Texas and a CHL picture ID issued by the State of Texas.
Yes either and a birth certificate will work.

Sorry but what? If you have a Texas ID but want a Texas ID or am I confused?

interestingly, if you lost your id there should be no reason you couldn't walk in, and have them re-send the last one to the last address.

I think he's upset because you can get a Texas ID (which could be used to vote) based on a Social Security card (no photo) and a birth certificate (no photo).
However, you can't get one with a CHL or other Texas-issued ID...
Makes no sense to me either.

Even if my birth certificate had a photo, I don't look like Winston Churchill anymore. Must be the mustache or something.

My Social Security card is on a parchment scroll, before Mathew Brady even.
