Normally I don't believe everything I am told. However if this is true, I want to know. Is there a new law or executive order that bans future manufacture of lead ammo and bullets once current stock is used by the manufacturers? Please tell me it's bull.

The president lacks such authority (not that it would stop him from trying).

Didn't the EPA float a trial balloon on that a few years ago and got blown out of the water? Anyone with better google fu than I find that or otherwise remember?

I know the EPA considered a ban on lead in artificial baits and sinkers for fishing last year or the year before, and it did not go through...

Maybe this is what you're thinking of:

"The U.S. Army is hastening their adoption of the new M855A1 Enhanced Performance Round, a new 5.56 NATO cartridge that’s designed specifically for M4 carbines. The Army has been so impressed with the new round that they’re now developing a 7.62 NATO variant. The cartridge is also both environmentally- and soldier-friendly.

“Thirty-two grains of lead are eliminated per M855A1 projectile, and 114.5 grains of lead will be eliminated per M80A1 projectile,” reads the Picatinny Arsenal press release.

Often referred to as the Army’s new “green” ammo, the M855A1 EPR is lead-free, although that’s not the reason why they’re making the change.

The new cartridge offers much improved performance in just about every circumstance. It travels at higher velocities and has better ballistics and range, it’s great at barrier penetration and is more effective on targets at all ranges.
"

Good search but this was more to the effect that the EPA had looked into it and found they didn't have the authority (or someone helped them find it...).

Here's a bit:

It's spam being played up on some "green" rounds being tried by our military. People are using it as a scare tactic and it seems to be working as you're not the first to report it on this board. Thanks for asking rather than repeating the fear mongering.

I hope they do... Think of how much cheaper .308 lead-free hunting ammo would be if the manufacturers scaled up production enough to keep the army happy.

This is a trial balloon I hear floated by the EPA every couple of years. It's a standard tactic - ban all lead ammo as "harmful to the environment," and ban lead-free ammo as "armor-piercing," then Hey Presto! you have a ban on ALL ammo! But it's not something the president can enact directly (even though I wouldn't put it past him to try), only through the proxy of dubiously-legal bureaucratic regulations.

It's something they keep trying, hoping that one day we won't be paying attention. As long as we are, it's not a threat. But remember, they ARE out to get us, and they ARE out to take all guns / ammo away, by any means they can get away with. Whether it's ammunition restrictions, "assault weapon" bans, ever-expanding lists of felonies, or "mental health evaluations," they ARE out to get us.

Stay alert, do your research, and be heard.

Sometimes I wonder if they are out to get us.

Maybe thinking of this?

They used to say "As California goes, so goes the Nation". I hope not! But Lord knows that our Resident is about as mentally stable as California Gov. Moonbat and the way the Hussein signs Executive Orders to suit whatever random thought is rattling around in his head, he probably would try something like this.

I'm not wondering any more...I just take it that they are...the only question is who all "they" are...

How about green bombs, howitzer rounds, and DU rounds?
