Ted Nugent's wife arrested at DFW with gun

Had it in her carry on when it was x-rayed. Arrested and released. She said she forgot it was there.
Why was she arrested. I thought they were just releasing people for this. Or is that just Houston. They can't prove intent.

Nugent was processed through the airport holding facility and released.

When CHL holders do these things, they should simply be told to either check the gun or return it to their vehicle. It's ridiculous to prosecute them.

TSA has been out of control for quite a while. Lots of "authority and little intelligence. I have to call a supervisor every time I'm screened because they freak out when I insist they visually inspect my insulin (a clear liquid) instead of x-raying it. For those of you wondering why, insulin is a protein and the x-ray (if turned up for clearer images) will fry enough of the mixture to alter its effectiveness.

It's because it happened in (democrat-dominated) Houston, she's Uncle Ted's wife......and he's {{{GASP!!!}}} a voice of the {{{SHUDDER}}} eeeevil NRA........whose name shall not be spoken.philip964 wrote:Why was she arrested. When did they move DFW airport to Houston? The Annoyed Man wrote:It's because it happened in (democrat-dominated) Houston, she's Uncle Ted's wife......and he's {{{GASP!!!}}} a voice of the {{{SHUDDER}}} eeeevil NRA........whose name shall not be spoken.philip964 wrote:Why was she arrested. Pure politics. If she had been the husband of Annise Parker, all of this would have been quietly swept under the rug.
This, though, is one of those examples of "off the body carry" being less than optimal. Too easy to forget the gun is there, and if you forget it's there while going through airport security, what chance is there that you will forget it's there under other circumstances?
OTOH, when I was with TSA I made it through DFW checkpoints 7 times out of 10 tries with a .380 handgun in my carry on.

I didn't realize that it was at DFW. I saw the OP's question—"Or is that just Houston"—and assumed that it was Houston. Even so, my answer still applies, except make it "if she were the wife of Mike Rawlings (democrat mayor of Dallas)"......jimlongley wrote:When did they move DFW airport to Houston? The Annoyed Man wrote:It's because it happened in (democrat-dominated) Houston, she's Uncle Ted's wife......and he's {{{GASP!!!}}} a voice of the {{{SHUDDER}}} eeeevil NRA........whose name shall not be spoken.philip964 wrote:Why was she arrested. Sorry, my fault I should have been clearer with my Houston statement. Incident happened in Dallas. I had previously heard that it happens all the time in Houston. But you just get a lecture and told to be more careful and your on your way in Houston. Not arrested. Of course I may be just be remembering wishful thinking. The Annoyed Man wrote:I didn't realize that it was at DFW. I saw the OP's question—"Or is that just Houston"—and assumed that it was Houston. Can we all agree that taking, or attempting to take, a firearm thru security or checking baggage containing firearms without proper declarations is illegal currently? Then what she did was illegal. Now she most likely has reasons and explanations but I don't see that letting her tell it to the court rather than having the airport cop make the call as inherently evil.
Re: Ted Nugent's wife arrested at DFW with gun
A friend did the same thing at Intergalactic Airport in Houston.
TSA simply escorted him back to his car where he locked it in the trunk. He has a Texas CHL.
No arrest, but plenty of embarrassment and inconvenience.
TSA isn't always boneheaded.
He told me they were great to him.

Re: Ted Nugent's wife arrested at DFW with gun
So the question I have is what type of carry on was it? If it was a purse I can sort of understand. If it was a couple of days of clothes type carry on then no I cannot understand as she had to have packed the bag, right?
I also have a general problem with anyone that says " I forgot it was there." If you forget where your gun is how are you going to use it if needed?
That comment really bothers me when I hear it was in a holster. I don't care how comfortable a holster my be it is still a pound or two on your belt!

And BTW, Houston may be going blue, but Harris County isn't even close.

She was arrested and released... that doesn't specify whether she will be charged or not as you can drop charges.. need more info.
