Feds want Zimmerman, any way they can get him

The US Department of Justice has
declared war on George Zimmerman.
The U.S. Department of Justice on Monday afternoon appealed to civil rights groups and community leaders, nationally and in Sanford, for help investigating whether a federal criminal case might be brought against George Zimmerman for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, one advocate said.
The DOJ has also set up a public email address to take in tips on its civil rights investigation.
Barbara Arnwine, president and executive director the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law – who earlier in the day joined calls for federal civil rights charges against Zimmerman, said that later in the afternoon, she joined a U.S. Department of Justice conference call to discuss the prospects.
“They were calling on us to actively refer anyone who had any information,” that might build a case against Zimmerman for either a civil rights violation or a hate crime, Arnwine said. “They said they would very aggressively investigate this case.”
This is bigger than Zimmerman. This is a direct assault on the US Constitution. If they get away with this, there will be no stopping them.

This is unacceptable. Is there no way to force Eric holder to adhere to the law? Petty despot. Small little man. Why do we have elected officials if justice can be miscarried in such a blatant fashion. These are the actions of third world dictators not the attorney general of the United States. What an embarrassment. I am chagrined that I live in the same country as this man. I am ashamed for him. I blush at his actions and lower my head as a citizen of this land that the attorney general of the United States would go on such a witch hunt.
I ask again is there no way to censure and restrain this man. Are we powerless to stop a despot intent on taking political prisoners in show trials?

Treasonous Pigs. The Federal Government picks and chooses which Laws they abide by and which ones they don't. Seems like the moron US Attorney General doesn't see fit to uphold the Judicial System of the United States. So what does he do? He starts rabble rousing. That's the American Way. The US Attorney General gets people riled up and demands his own Justice, regardless of the US Judicial Systems wishes. The Rule of Man over the Rule of Law.
Maybe it's time for these United States to end the relationship with this Tyrannical Beast we call a Federal Government and abolish it as we see fit, before they abolish us.

Yes but talking about it violates forum rules and probably Federal law.

I think we've identified the office of AGOUS as the most unaccountable, wide open for abuse position in the federal government. Seems insane that there is no recourse to be found against this tyrannical activist. The media was screaming about John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonzalez on a daily basis, but not a peep about Holder.

I agree with the thoughts that the DOJ is likely to inappropriately pursue their Civil Rights Violations investigation re: George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin.
That said, we all know or should know the temperment and discretion that Mr. Cotton requires if we choose to participate in and on this forum.
It'd be my advice to carefully choose your words when discussing these very volatile topics. Make no mistake, I feel that we've seen and are likely to see very inappropriate actions on the part of the Federal Government and those that lead it. Beyond that, I'll choose to respect the established limits of decorum.
We've got a good thing here, please respect our host.

If anyone's Civil Rights were violated, it was Zimmerman's.
Now, I'm no great Constitutional scholar - my knowledge of Constitutional law being limited to having read the actual document and not having heard about it third-hand in law classes that none of my supposed classmates can seem to remember me having attended - but in my reading one has to be indicted by a Grand Jury before he can be tried for murder.
Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

There you go again, quoting from the BOR that is no longer relevant.

Not as long as the GOP ranks are filled by a bunch of spineless craven bootlickers.
BTW, Jimmy Carter of all people said the jury made the right decision. From the Republican ranks --just crickets.

There is a hearing for stand your ground that can Invoke immunity from both criminal and civil liability.

If I understand the workings of Florida's laws, Zimmerman used a self defense argument in the recent court case. He is not provided civil immunity under those laws, but if sued could seek immunity under the Florida Stand You Ground laws.
Again, as I (non lawyer who did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night) understand it.
