The university's Stritch School of Medicine not only intends to waive legal residency as an admissions requirement for applicants but aims to offer a financing plan through a state agency. School officials said they believe no other medical school in the nation offers a similar program.
Dean Linda Brubaker and Mark Kuczewski, director of the school's Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics, decided to open the school to undocumented students after President Barack Obama signed an executive order in June 2012 making it possible for young adults brought to the United States as children to temporarily live and work legally in the U.S. The change removed a barrier to landing a medical residency.
“We didn't feel it was right to turn away these young people anymore,” Dr. Brubaker said.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!
I wonder how much of this has to do with getting a fresh source of cash from federally backed student loans that will never be paid back?

Lets look at this from another angle, the national security angle. Med school teaches students how to heal, and with that knowledge one can also learn how to better kill someone or some group of people (Think mass terror attack). Additionally at some level medical students will have access to chemicals and/or pathogens that are not readily available to the public. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I really don't like the direction this is going...

Maybe I shouldn't say this but engineers probably have much more ability to cause death and destruction on a wide scale.

Yeah, there was no concern about "potential" terrorists attending flight school at one time. Teaching children is one thing, but to educate an adult who came here knowing that they were breaking the law is an entirely different matter. The education of adults who enter this country and/or stay here illegally is just a bad idea. Knowledge is power, if they come here illegally you have to wonder what their goal is and be prepared just in case that goal is to do us harm.
