It's a fair bet he's just talking about the Christian schools, I'm sure the Muslim schools must be very inclusive and uniting.

Translation: cooperation = submission to the liberal agenda

Keep it in context. He was speaking in Northern Ireland and was specifically referencing their issues. I don't think he should have said what he said, but to try and paint it the way you are seems to be a stretch.

Well in northern Ireland with its history with The Troubles, it can be. New Rochelle not so much.

Still, it's an argument for state run schools and against private religious schools. The reason liberals believe in state run schools is because they can control the propaganda - I mean education - that the students receive.

A Catholic school will teach that Catholicism is good.

A Protestant school will teach that Protestantism is good.

A Baptist school will teach that Baptism is good.

A home school will teach that home is good.

A government school will teach that government is good.

You need to take it in the larger context.....probably the most divisive president in the history of the United States lecturing to the Irish about division; the guy who talked about bitter clingers holding on to their guns and Bibles; the guy who used his position to fan the flames in the Travon Martin case; the guy who shows nothing but contempt for those of us who support the 2nd Amendment and whined like a petulant child when he didn't get his way in Congress; the guy whose administration has selectively ordered hands off Mosques while he uses the IRS, EPA, and FBI to harass Christian and conservative groups; the guy who uses every tactic he can get away with to force HIS agenda on the roughly half the country that doesn't want it. When the libs and progs say cooperation, they ALWAYS mean capitulation.

Obama has no use for anyone who doesn't agree with him as he constantly makes clear both in his speeches and the action of his administration. You cannot isolate this speech from everything the man represents. His words were not uttered by accident, but were carefully calculated. If we didn't know what we do about the man, we might consider his remarks naive and Pollyannish, but we do know what kind of man he is. He made these remarks for the world to hear and he is sending a message.

Now look closely at what he said. There is either a basis for the division that exists or their isn't. That division doesn't disappear because the Obamation said it shouldn't exist. He said, plainly, that if Catholics have their schools and Protestants have theirs, it discourages "cooperation." Cooperation to do what? Should Christians have to "cooperate" with Muslims? They believe in different things. He didn't say "tolerate" he said "cooperate." And he said cooperation isn't possible as long as the two groups maintain their separate identities and culture. So, which group has to abandon its identity and culture? or is it both groups that have to do that for "cooperation?" He doesn't ask ANY other group to abandon identity or culture.

Great Post I'm retiring early from my soon to be ex-employer because of the Southern Kalifornia corporate management invasion. Our Texas culture may not survive if we keep begging for jobs from such foreign states.

They are all rooted in Protestantism, which is the original form of the argument; some Catholics argued over whether or not indulgences were correct doctrine and the result was the protectors of the faith (the Catholics) and the protestors of the faith (the Protestants - known as the Lutherans after the last name of their founder, Martin Luther.) Every single Protestant church/denomination since is an offshoot of similar doctrinal arguments about this that or the other.

Kind of basic, but essentially true with the exception that it was not all about indulgences.
