Whenever I think of Chicago I get a mental image of the 1920's and all the gangs and gang shootings and police and city hall corruption. Guess things haven't changed in 100 years.

Oh don't forget they have really high taxes too.

Oh yes they have. They've gotten much worse. I'd bet Chicago was far more livable in the 20s.

I am no fan of Chicago but from a purely objective standpoint, it makes sense.

Our daughter works in Chicago as a retail store manager. She has told me before, this is already the policy there, and thieves know it.

Shoplifters brazenly walk in, fill their pockets and oversized purses, and don't even try to hide what they are doing. Then, if they are confronted, they say "What are you going to do about it? Go ahead, call the cops. You know they won't come!"

What kind of craziness is this? You have no right to defend yourself or your property, and now the police won't even respond! Why should anyone even bother to work there? Just take what you want - no consequences!

This is being taken out of context. They are not responding to take simple reports after the fact for petty crimes. This is done all over the country. The reports will be taken over the phone.
