Boston was turned into a giant prison for a day to catch a teenager with pressure cooker bombs.

Imagine if this kid actually knew what he was doing. Imagine if there were a dozen of these guys in multiple parts of the city or multiple parts of the country operating simultaneously. They could have brought the whole country to a standstill.

I thought America was a great country – a powerful country. I thought it was the best country in the world. That’s what they tell me at least. Is this the country that defeated Hitler in World War 2? Is this the country that put a man on the moon? If these events are meaningful to you, then you need to question what the hell happened. You can defeat Hitler and Tojo, you can hang Saddam and assassinate bin Laden, but you cower in fear of a 19-year-old kid?

It was like the TSA came out to your house for the day – and you were thrilled about it.

I can't imagine this happening in a city in the U.S. and yet it did.
The Government? Locking down a city is the objective of terrorism. By closing down Boston, they gave the scum what they wanted and thereby encouraged more terrorism.
The Media? Terrorists seek publicity, which they supplied, day after day after day.
The Police? The lockdown made things worse by delaying the fugitive's apprehension. Swat teams in body armor didn't find him. An alert citizen did. And, only after the lockdown was lifted. Most egregious to me, when you view any of the videos of the door-to-door manhunt, the police, in full riot gear with weapons drawn, were ordering residents out of their homes with arms over their heads, yelling at them to keep their hands up and to move faster, while they were targeted by designated marksmen. None of them even vaguely resembled Tsarnaev, why were they being treated like terrorists?
This was not a win for America my friends.

How exactly did it fail? Do you actually believe the purpose of this exercise was to catch a 19 year old fugitive?

Unfortunately, there have been many more "wins". Every time the TSA has pushed the envelope, the public has been trained to accept it under the guise of security. It seems almost magical how the weakest, smallest and most frail among the flying public have been targeted and how the conduct of confiscating recording equipment and destroying pictures has also been tolerated.

I wonder how many don't fly domestically anymore because of TSA?

Some I know like me would rather drive or not go...

I no longer leave the country either, but if I did I'd seek an alternative than tolerate TSA.

I thought I was the only one that had a bad taste in my mouth over what happened in Boston. It's good to see people here that feel the same way I do about the whole thing.

Guess I will be the only one not afraid to post in disagreement. Are there any proven cases where somebody went outside and was arrested? I have not read about one. They asked people to stay inside and they did while they went house to house in a contained area looking for a terrorist believed to be armed with weapons and explosives. It obviously worked because the terrorist stayed put and they were able to apprehend him w/o anybody else being injured. Obviously the residents of Boston who lived through this don't have an issue with it due to the parades, ect they are throwing for the officers.

The same here. I refuse to be poked and prodded by some bozo who can't count past ten with his shoes on, but loves to lord it over passengers on an airline.

If I lived in that area, I'd be dead and you'd be reading about the shootout with police.

The police did not find the second terrorist. A homeowner did, after the curfew had been lifted. Without that the terrorist might have escaped.

I guess you don't have any problem about being taken out of you house at gunpoint.
