I don't know which site I have recently subscribed to got me on the list to receive email from Mark Kelly, but:

"Dear Jim -

Five minutes and thirty-six seconds...

That's how long it took me to complete a background check to purchase a handgun earlier this month at an Arizona gun store.

Gabby and I are gun owners, so we know background checks are simple, painless, and meant to keep guns out the hands of criminals and the mentally ill.

But not everyone knows that.

So when I bought this gun, I went in with a pocket camera to demonstrate how quick and easy it is to complete the background check process. I hope you'll watch it and share it with your friends and family today.

Background checks are a common sense solution to reduce gun violence that everyone should be able to get behind. Unfortunately, we still have a lot of work to do. Sharing this video is one way we can spread the truth about background checks.

I'm glad we're in this fight together.

Mark Kelly
Americans for Responsible Solutions"

And of course my reply, as if he will ever read it:

And background checks cannot be shown to have prevented any criminal or mentally ill person from obtaining a firearm, so they make no sense, eliminating them from the definition of "common sense" and making them merely a burden on the law abiding that criminals will merely continue to ignore.

Nice try, Mark, I will continue to share your missives with my friends and family as an example of how far you anti-rights nuts will go in your campaign to deprive us of our rights.

Shall not be infringed, Mark, shall not be infringed.

I would like to know where "they" come up with the polls that show this so-called 90+% of gun owners are for universal background checks, I have been a gun owner for a while and have had many friends that are owners too yet anyone I know or have talk to has never answered a poll.

Same place they got the 40% figure for gun shows.

I see their effort in trying to convince people to saddle up on their side of the issue, failing...

Thought he could be clever with all his clandestine technology and tradecraft...hehehe, what a rookie...

@ShuttleCDRKelly I read your email on background checks taking only 5min.I printed it out and gave it to local gang members.Hope it works!
Man I am sick of the talk about background checks. Surely anyone with even a shred of common sense can understand that criminals, by definition, do not obey laws.

Therein lies the problem. Common sense isn't common anymore. Especially when the subject of gun control rears its head.
