obviously that's an assault revolver, it's all black. And it has "that thing that goes up" - right above the dangerous pistol grip ... and that piece under the barrel, pretty sure that's a barrel shroud.

I have seen the quote “that thing that goes up” numerous times. Where did it come from?

Kind of twisted that she has kept the glasses with the blood on them all this time. Most people would have kept something else to remember a loved one by. Normal people.

That picture was first published over 30 years ago. It is not a current picture.

It was said by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy from New York during an interview about banning "assault weapons". The interview discussed the banning of firearms with certain features, such as barrel shrouds. She was asked if she knew what a barrel shroud was, and she replied that it was the shoulder thing that goes up.
I don't normally place too much faith in Wikipedia, but it was the quickest thing for me to find on this....
On the April 18, 2007, episode of MSNBC's program Tucker, Tucker Carlson interviewed McCarthy about the Virginia Tech massacre and her proposed reauthorization of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban. He asked her to explain the need to regulate barrel shrouds, one of the many provisions included in her bill. She did not directly respond, instead stating it was more important that the legislation would ban large capacity "clips" (sic) of the type used in the Virginia Tech massacre and that the class of guns chosen prohibited by the law were those used by gangs and killers of police officers. That statement was factually incorrect; Cho's largest magazines held fifteen rounds, thus making them legal under the AWB.[23] When Carlson pressed her twice more on the question about barrel shrouds, she admitted that she did not know what a barrel shroud was, and incorrectly stated, "I believe it is a shoulder thing that goes up."
(emphasis mine)
There are also YouTube videos all over of the actual interview, so I feel the above quote is pretty exact. Basically, it shows how idiotic most of these legislators are. Looking at pictures (Feinstein) and not even knowing what they are trying to ban, or ban on cosmetic features (McCarthy and the rest).

But I'll bet she still has the glasses.

Ono tweeted "Over 1,057,000 people have been killed by guns in the USA since John Lennon was shot and killed on 8 Dec 1980." and "31,537 people are killed by guns in the USA every year. We are turning this beautiful country into war zone."
31,537 x 33 = 1,040,721, so she can't even do math. Worse than that, the murder rate from guns is close to 10,000 now, not 31,000. Almost 20,000 of those 31,000 are suicides. So of her claimed 1,057,000 firearm deaths, about 650,000 of them are suicides.
In 2011, according to the CDC, there were 606 accidental shootings, the least likely cause of accidental death listed. You are four times more likely to die from smoke inhalation, six times more likely to drown, and 54 times more likely to die from accidental poisoning.
When almost 2/3rds of the deaths caused by a gun are suicides, it's the worst kind of hyperbole to claim that we're turning the country into a war zone.

The picture is from the cover of an album that she released a month after John Lennon's death. Apparently the whole 'never let a tradgedy go to waste' is a long-standing tradition with them. Most anti's include suicides and criminals who were shot during the commission of crimes in their stats. Then there's probably some sort of random multiplier that gets thrown in to try to ad some credibility. Ever notice how there's not really a uniform number that goes out from their side? When she dies, John will finally be able to rest in peace since she can't seem to resist even the smallest urge to dig him up & parade him around for her own personal gain. I'm kind of surprised that she hasn't made the rounds of Dancing With The Stars, Celebrity Survivor, and Celebrity Apprentice. Although, that might be her next trick.

Yuck. I quit watching this crap a long time ago but this would add to my disgust.
