While I am not one to generally trust the AP, there are actual quotes in this story, versus just a description of what was said. I know some others have been saying it for a while now, and though I tried to be a loyal guy, if the Speaker is serious about this, he's got to go. If he "trusts" the POTUS on the economy, does he also "trust" him on firearms? The current POTUS wants us "peasants" disarmed, make no mistake about that. A few rich folks with fine European doubles covered in expensive filigree work does not equate to an armed populace, nor does it do a thing to keep my family or I safe. I wanted to think Boehner was a savvy politician, but I guess he's just a politician, not savvy at all.

Well, he's kinda right. After all, the moochers aren't marching on DC, rioting & looting. And when the crisis does truly hit, that's exactly what'll happen when the gub'mint checks stop.

Hold your horses. Some of that are true. I mean we are benefiting from almost 0% interest free money. Plus, Feds are giving away $3,000, 000,000 each day. That is $40 for each family per day. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I trust Obama. I know that we can count on him to lie, trash the constitution, cheat, steal, and do everything in his power to destroy this nation and impose some form of totalitarian society on the United States. Of course, we can trust Obama to try to do all of those things.

At the risk of sounding naive and disingenuous, I would suggest that it's ok to criticize the current speaker of the House. If we choose to remain silent in an effort to show unity, we tell Boehner he's on the right track. Well, he's not on the right track. What good is temporary political power if it is not exercised? Specifically, the republicans control the House. They could, if willing, wield their power over the federal purse strings to exert some meaningful influence on the federal government. Boehner instead chooses to punish the Tea Party freshmen that suggest that course. Old Lee Iococa had it right: lead, follow, or get out of the way. What will it be speaker Boehner?

The Republican Party, after 50 years in the minority, developed tactics that allowed for a conservative voice in legislative branch, while relying on a strong Executive to keep the left in check. The 1994 surprise and the following years with a majority in both houses of congress and a Republican executive showed that they still thought that they were in the minority.
Their cajolery, tit for tat, back scratching business as usual tactics didn't work anymore. When they finally stood up on their hind legs, they had after all won, the press and their Dem colleagues went to work. They were villified in the press, and had their feelings hurt, they felt the lash of "politics of personal destruction". Individuals who had made poor personal choices were destroyed politically and in some cases at a personal level.
The Dems, who never ceded their leadership role, expected to "share power, chairmanships, etc" forced them off message to defend themselves and basically bullied them off the national stage.
Those members who were in office then, are still running scared, it's a shame they're what passes for leadership today.
