I expected nothing less from the dictator want to be Feinstein. I suspect it will not make it out of the senate though. If it does we are all in trouble.

The measure's passage by the Judiciary panel has been a foregone conclusion for some time. It will be far more vulnerable in the full Senate, where Democrats are expected to need 60 votes for passage through the 100-member chamber. That is where the NRA and other pro-gun groups are working hard for the ban's defeat.

"We are focused on the next step of the legislative process," Chris W. Cox, the NRA's chief lobbyist, said Wednesday.

There are 53 Democrats plus two independents who generally side with them. Republicans seem ready to oppose the ban overwhelmingly, and Feinstein can't count on a half-dozen Democrats from Republican-leaning states who face re-election next year.

The ban also stands little chance of approval in the GOP-controlled House.
This is why maintaining the House majority is THE most important thing on the political horizon. Forget 2016, it's 2014 that determines our immediate future.

Conservative new sites seem to have the opinion it likely won't even pass the Democrat controlled senate, much less the House. I don't even think Harry Reid is in favor of it.

That doesn't mean he won't vote for it, if the price is right.

Reid probably won't be facing the voters again, having been re-elected last time, so is in the dangerous position of being able to do whatever he wants, to help the country, to help the party, to help his benefactors, to help whoever he feels like.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Part of me wants the Senate vote to occur. As long as I was sure that it wasn't going to pass, I'd love to see a lot of the Red State Dems have to stand up in public and vote against it - or commit suicide in the next election and vote for it. Either of those would be good. I think Uncle Harry understands how perilous that choice would be and is going to make sure that it doesn't happen. His actions are not based on his own beliefs though he does have a good record of not pushing gun control bills. Unlike others, I think he is a political pragmatist first and an ideologue second.

Gotta love Diane frankenstien

WASHINGTON — A federal ban on assault weapons cleared a Democratic-run Senate committee Thursday in a party-line vote after its chief sponsor, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) clashed with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) over the 2nd Amendment.

“I’ve looked at bodies that have been shot with these weapons,” Feinstein snapped at Cruz after he questioned her on the Constitution. “It’s fine if you want to lecture me on the Constitution. Just know that I’ve been here for a long time,” citing her 20 years on the Judiciary Committee.

Although the 10-8 vote advanced the bill to the full Senate, the hard work now begins for Feinstein, who wrote the 1994 law only to see it expire in 2004.

Not only did every one of the Judiciary Committee’s Republicans vote against the bill, but Feinstein has struggled to line up support among rural-state Democrats, some of whom are up for reelection next year. “The road is uphill. I fully understand it,” said Feinstein, who recently called the assault weapons ban a “life’s mission for me.”

It's ashamed to have your life's mission be such a worthless cause. If she would direct all this energy to something worthwhile who know's what she could do.

We can only hope that when the bill fails in the full Senate (or perhaps doesn't even get voted on to spare Red State Dems), she melts like the wicked witch of the east in the Wizard of Oz, her life's mission over. Of course, stuff like that only happens in the movies. DiFi will be around a long time to continue her torment law-abiding American citizens.

Mr.Romney carried 7 states with (D) Senators who will be up for re-election in 2014. I don't believe that Mr.Reid will allow this bill to reach a floor vote, or will hold harmless those Senators who choose not to support Ms.Feinstein's legislation, whether it's her life's work or not. Support of this legislation along party lines would, as the '94 midterms showed, swing control of the Senate to the GOP.

Democrats have not forgotten the election lesson of 1994...

Some of their ranks may feel there is a new strength in the wave of emotions surrounding the recent shootings around the country...

If they somehow manage to pull this one off, victory is fleeting...
