A depressing overview of the modern college campus, with an excursion into high schools as well, where the First Amendment increasingly is killed off by groupthink.

Its all a big, interlocked structure: the colleges with their "free-speech codes", the mass-media who are trained in these places, and the giant government bureaucracy that both nurtures and benefits from it. And at the base of all of it is liberal-progressive ideology, that collectivist mentality, like a herd of sheep. Senator Joe McCarthy, however harsh some may think he acted, was right about communists infiltrating our government and entertainment industry...but he missed all of them in the colleges, making their plans and setting up the foundations of the system that is now in place.

I'm in contact with a retired sociology professor who tells me just how completely the faculty at most colleges are locked down. You don't toe the line, even at a relatively open school like the University of Chicago and you're out --just ask John Lott.

We had a college professor do a speech at our college around the year 2001. He spoke on the how the irreducible complexity of the human eye called for a designer. He was nearly fired, simply for giving this talk at a Christian college group.

Nice ....huh.....this is why I don't trust academia in the least. They have committed academic fraud of the sort that would get an undergrad a failing grade.

My eldest son, for what reason I'll never know, chose a "Feminist Ethics" womens studies course as an elective in his junior year at university. As we were residing in the same town as the school he'd drop by with class notes and we'd discuss the profs statements, do some fact checking and prepare a rebuttal. After the 3rd repitition of this process he stated "She's looking a little wild when I ask questions or refute her statements!" In fact she had begun cursing and vilifying him and two other students and by the end of the second week of the semester she had ejected him from class and was seeking to have him disciplined by the administration. Unbeknownst to her, to supplement his hand written notes he was using a Sony audio recorder, the antiques that use the itty bitty tapes, and had captured every word she'd uttered. The result was his placement in another class more in line with his major, and her dismissal.
Never forget these words:
"Our freedom of speech is freedom or death
We got to fight the powers that be
Lemme hear you say
Fight the power"
Public Enemy, 1989

I'm curious, and not trying to start an argument: was this a professor of biology, or some other subject? I can certainly see where a biology professor endorsing intelligent design would raise some eyebrows. I'm not saying he should be censored, but this definitely flies in the face of the primary foundations of modern biology.

I don't doubt it, but they are definitely in the minority. Probably far under 1%.
edit: ...in the United States

Not quite that bad,
"The purpose of ID's research program is not to convince the unconvincible -- critics who repeat over and over in the media that there is no such thing as ID research, that ID has not produced a single peer-reviewed paper. Rather, ID research seeks to engage open-minded scientists and thoughtful laypersons with credible, persuasive, peer-reviewed, empirical data supporting intelligent design."

It was the head of the biology department. The strangle hold that apriori anti-god philosophy has on the universities is astounding. I am not saying that we shound teach 7 day creationism, however for a professor to not be able to express the idea that design calls for a designer is academic sensoring and is dishonest. It is interesting to me that those who hold science in such regards would treat others with differing opinions in nearly the same manner as Galileo was treated.

If you want to explore the intersection of academic freedom with what passes for liberal thought, check out Mike Adams on Townhall.com http://townhall.com/columnists/mikeadams/

It is astonishing what perverts are out there.
