Colorado may be a lost cause

Things are getting pretty crazy in Colorado.
A Democratic lawmaker in Colorado is drawing criticism after telling a rape victim that the attack against her would have been worse if she had been carrying a gun at the time. State Sen. Evie Hudak told Amanda Collins "statistics are not on your side even if you had had a gun." Hudak argued at a hearing Monday that if Collins was carrying a gun, the much larger male attacker could have taken it from her and shot her.

Collins responded by saying, "Respectfully Senator, you weren't there. Had I been carrying [a concealed weapon], he wouldn't have known that I had my weapon. I know without a doubt in my mind, at some point I would have been able to stop my attack by using my firearm."
Needless to say, Amanda Collins was not happy with the Senator.
It's just insane that these left wingers are ok with criminals being armed (since we all know they will be), but have seizures at the thought of citizens fighting back to defend themselves. The more we have control of our own lives, the less we need government "protecting" us (as they would have you believe). And that's exactly what they DON'T want.

That might be the new plan...one state at a time.

The liberal mind is a wonder of profoundly flawed logic ruled by irrational emotion and obsession with being in control of everyone else according to what the liberal thinks is right.

Case in point; I was appalled recently when my extreme left thinking stepson argued with me over a woman's right to be armed against rape. He steadfastly believes if a woman defecates while being attacked, the rapist will be so disgusted he will leave her alone and will be unlikely to bother another woman. He also believes it is morally wrong for a woman to have the right to shoot her attacker at any point. He insists a whistle, mace, a stun gun, etc are all effective. No amount of videos of women describing the brutality they went through. Not even the testimony of a rapist/murderer that he would have murdered his victim even if he had been unable to rape her will sway his opinion. He is politically active in the enemy camp and passionately hopes we are all divested of our guns as soon as possible. I love him, but I wonder if there is a way to ever reach into his twisted reasoning to make him see. He even stated he would not want his wife or daughter to ever be armed even if it meant they would die at the hands of an attacker. Disheartening. I told him if I saw a monster attacking his wife or daughter then he needed to get the heck out of my way because I would not hesitate to defend them to whatever degree it took to stop the attacker from harming them.

Meaning no offense to you because I do understand how difficult that must be for you, but it seems to me that no guy is any kind of real man if he would rather see his wife or daughter die at the hands of a rapist murderer than to see them defend themselves with a firearm. It wouldn't stop with my daughter in law or grandchild. If this guy cannot be trusted with something so precious as their lives, then he cannot be trusted with anything important, and his natural heritage is "do you want fries with that?" I don't care how smart he is.....there are plenty of high school dropouts with more on the ball than that. Do you ever wonder who is filling his head with that kind of sewage, or is he just picking it up from his cohorts?

More than anything, I believe public education institutions (primary, secondary, and higher education) are the primary sewage distribution points. MHO

Bingo. We have a Winner. That and he has an infatuation with the entire ultra left mindset. He quotes their worst "studies" and arguments like a talking Pelosi head.

And I take no offense at the assessment of his lack of manhood. Like I said, I love him, but I have no illusions about his lack of normal defensive impulse where his family is concerned. I do think he has no earthly idea what he is talking about and confronted with the reality, he may find himself more willing to act than he imagines--at least once he got over the initial shock that criminals are not just misunderstood nice guys like the democrats say. I was raised by a strong father who took care of his family and would have taken whatever measures necessary to protect them. He treated my mother with the utmost respect and demanded we do the same. I lay the blame for my stepson's behavior partly at his own father's feet who never modeled such manhood to him. One reason we parted ways long ago. Apples and trees come to mind.

Not that this thread hijack has that much to do with Colorado being lost other than it is the nutty way Libs think.

I listen to Michael Bane's podcast a lot. He's in Colorado and has been at the capitol for a lot of the hearings. In his most recent one he mentioned something that made sense, at least on the face of it.

In the last election, the legalization of pot was on the ballot. That resulted in lots of liberals going to the polls which swung the elections liberal. However, there is some hope. He said pot won't be on the ballot next time. It will all be about guns.

I really think the Democrats are over-reaching and that, if Republicans can run decent candidates, things will swing back. Looking back at the last few batches, that's a big if.

As a state turns its back on the 2nd amendment, over time it wil be less and less important to the citizens living there since they will have little experience with guns or the protection they afford. I think this is one part of the communist thugs plan, one state at a time until the majority in congress is no longer afraid of pro-gun voters. The other part is to appoint anti-constitutionalist to the courts so they can just ignore the constitution.

Maybe not. The campus carry bill was killed by its sponsor. Did not have the votes.

Ever take him shooting?

People change. Hopefully in time he will see the light.

What amazes me about liberals is how incredibly insulting they can be without even realizing they are doing it. Here is a female Senator insulting women openly in a hearing, and she didn't even bat an eye. I doubt she even realizes how insulting she was. It reminds me of the treatment of Sarah Palin - something that wouldn't have been tolerated for one second had she been a liberal. It was so bad that even some liberals were appalled. Yet the vast majority of liberals thought it was perfectly fine.

They really do live in a bizarro world where everything is upside down.

I hope Amanda Collins can change the minds of Legislators here in Texas. If not I hope she can reveal their stupidity so they can be voted out of office :txflag:
