Are you sure about that regarding the unions? The reasons would have been the same. They would have wanted to disarm those that opposed them and strong-arming politicians to pass those laws might have been a reasonable way of doing that. Of course, however, it may not have been too difficult to convince democratic politicians to pass those kinds of laws in the first place. This wasn't too long after the Civil War and it would have been just one more group of people they wanted to control.Jumping Frog wrote:I am no friend of the unions -- in fact, I could go on a union rant but will not.
