For what it is worth, if some groups continue to divide and consume their own, we are spinning our wheels...
BTW, what is the general concensus of this Steve Sanetti??? And or his NSSF group???
I smell a rat here...
I could not find anything political on this guy just yet, and figured the knowledge base here might know more than what is, or may not be out there for general consumption...Where does his political donations go??? Where are his political philosophies??? Conservative, moderate, liberal??? Whose picture is he seen being taken with??? You know, all that surface stuff...
Still looking around myself...

The NSSF represents the manufacturers and retailers. Those groups only deal in selling firearms via FFL's. Private sales of used firearms is of no economic benefit to a manufacturers trade association.

All they have to do is say, "Background checks required with all firearms transactions at ATF-sanctioned events"
Closes the non-loophole "loophole", shuts up antis, and leaves private sales open elsewhere. I still haven't figured out why this is what is being proposed.
Yes, it will make some "private sale advocates" angry, but it sets the bar to the same level as FFLs at sanctioned events.

I am a member of NSSF, and received a newsletter today regarding this situation. See link below for his response.

Their response seems okay to me. Did I miss something?
From what I know about the NICS, the biggest problem is that the states or at least some of them are not completely or accurately reporting their criminal databases to NICS as they said they would. Between that and the fed's unwillingness to go after those that lie on a 4473 and other issues it's no wonder so many people think it doesn't work.

The MSM is claiming the NSSF is saying something that they did not, that the NSSF supports universal background checks.

Maybe the opposite, like used car sales on craigslist cut into dealership sales.

Okay. That's what I thought.

I heard about the Washington Post article which is slanted according to what NSSF is saying. I didn't read anything in the NSSF, that I didn't hear from the NRA. The media by nature is trying to divide the gun community.

So the organization or this Steve Sanetti gave $500 to Newtown, CT. months before the shooting???
Ok...Good find...Not sure what this really means though, I could speculate, but its only $500...

Yahoo as a news source is no better than CNN, and only a little less liberal-progressive than MSNBC. They are going to do their best to paint anyone pro-firearms in as negative of a light as possible. They revel in getting firearms folks at each others' throats, so that we will all fight amongst each other. Their precious Saul Alinsky told them to do this, and they follow his "commandments". Make no mistake that liberal-progressivism is a religion, and many of its followers are devout.

From the NSSF's website...
The National Shooting Sports Foundation is the trade association for the firearms industry. Its mission is to promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports. Formed in 1961, NSSF has a membership of more than 7,000 manufacturers, distributors, firearms retailers, shooting ranges, sportsmen's organizations and publishers.
The NSSF puts on the Shot Show, the industry's trade show annually. I think you are misreading that line. The NSSF (and perhaps Sanetti) are located (ironically) in Newtown CT. The donation he made was TO the NSSF, not the town. I don't think there is anything nefarious going on here.
