We are being negotiated by few GOP Senators

A bipartisan group of senators is on the verge of a deal that would expand background checks to all private firearms sales with limited exemptions, but significant disagreements remain on the issue of keeping records of private gun sales, according to aides familiar with the talks.

So how do you reach the conclusion "We are being sold, GOP style"?

All of these bills at the federal and state levels are being introduced and championed by DEMOCRATS. Just because there are a handful of (R) senators who state they are willing to discuss the issue does not mean that is the Republican party position.

Your characterization that it is the GOP doing the selling is disingenuous, at best.

Sorry to be disagreeable, Froggie, but what else can one conclude when a Republican expresses willingness to foster gun registration via background checks? Would YOU offer to sit down and discuss it with the Democrats, knowing their long-standing gun confiscation agenda? Given the pattern of Republican cave-ins over the past decades, it's not ingenuous to declare that they are just talking. Republican does not equal conservative on the national level, not since Reagan. Has the Republican congressional leadership welcomed tea-party freshmen congressmen? no sir. The Republicans express embarrassment when Ted Cruz (another tea party senator) leads the fight. Who's being disingenuous here? It's not disingenuous to suggest that the old Rockefeller wing of the Republican party, who is definitely in charge of the party, does not represent the best interests of Americans' right to keep and bear arms.

One man walked into Sandy Hook Elementary and murdered 20 children and 6 adults. Therefore, would you agree with the statement that "all gun owners will murder children?" That's what one does when you say "Republicans sold us out" when in reality only a few individuals are talking. It doesn't help our cause nor bolster the courage of the rest of the Republicans who are on our side of this issue when they lumped in with others who either do not share their zeal or commitment.

If we gun owners don't join the NRA and raise our ranks to 20+ million Members and do it quickly, the day may come when we can blast Republicans (plural), but we are not there now and painting with far too broad of a brush hurts our efforts to save the Second Amendment.

Chas.

Your response is either disingenuous or naive, not sure which.

There are 53 Democrats in the Senate and 90% will support gun control measures.

There are 45 Republicans in the Senate and 90% will oppose gun control measures.

Saying the GOP sold out the Senate makes as much sense as picking out the 2 or 3 Democrats that will oppose gun control and saying "the Democrat Party opposes gun control."

I intentionally made the subject sensational so all get motivated and call the 20 senators. Maybe I should have put this as disclosure in my original post.

If we don't open ourselves to discussion then aren't we closed minded?
Discussing does not always mean agreeing.
You can not debate an issue if you don't know the others POV.

Now when they start selling us out then we can work on putting them in the hot seat.

I joined the NRA.

Senate doesn't count anyway. They have to do something the House would agree to.

There is going to have to be some new restriction passed, so everyone can say, see we did something, we care. It will be called the "Sandy Hook Bill".

I would prefer if we came up with the new restrictions, for the "Sandy Hook Bill", here are my suggestions:

Federal requirement for dead bolt locks in steel frames on all school class room doors. ( I still haven't found out if the Sandy Hook classrooms had locks, but it didn't sound like it.)

Federal requirement to improve mental health record sharing by states into background check. Tie DEA record keeping for certain controlled substances into background check.

Federal requirement prohibiting private gun sales within five miles of a "gun show". Thus closing the "gun show" loophole the left seem so concerned about.

Federal law exempting school employees who are CHL's from any federal law prohibiting campus carry as long as they carry concealed on their person.

Federal standardization on CHL training and testing for all states, but once achieved a 50 state concealed carry by licensed CHL's.

A business who bans legal CHL from their property, will be liable for gun violence on their property. A business who does not ban legal CHL will not be liable for actions of a licensed CHL.

That's my list.

Beiruty, I already emailed Senator Coburn. I believe that the others mentioned in the story I read (Mark Kirk and Susan Collins) are wishy-washy from the start...they tend to be "compromisers". But I believe that Senator Coburn has been a decent conservative voice in the Senate and that if he realizes, via enough contacts from the public, that they DON'T want "compromise" on this issue, he may well dig in his heels against this. Remember, the job of the left-wing media is to dishearten and fragment opposition against THEIR political ideology. If we all give up on the Republican Party because of one or two folks, then the bad guys win, by default.

The GOP establishment fights tooth and nail against TEA party candidates. But when someone accuses them of swinging Left, who do they point at to counter the accusation? It would be funny if it wasn't so serious.

Something got edited or removed. I haven't found the phrase "We are being sold GOP style". Makes it hard to follow along.

Edit..OK I found the problem. The original title of the post is "We are being negotiated by few GOP Senators" and it turned into "We are being sold GOP style"

All very true, Charles, but I'm sure you also understand the mounting frustration of those who see the country collapsing in a tyrannical heap and precious few Republicans standing up and demanding that it stop.

Yeah........what he said. Just because a few RINO's talk on the left agenda please do not lump the entire GOP as selling America out.
It makes you sound liberal.
