Interesting, not! :rules: From the start they talk about enforcing the unenforceable which is good. However is he serious? Background checks for ammunition purchases? " There’s absolutely no reason why checks on firearms and ammunition purchases can’t include (at a minimum) mental health records, criminal history and terrorist watch-list queries."

This was written by their editor. Pretty sad. In looking up his background, he is another chief type and not a street level cop.

Additionally, LEOs should have the ability to place a temporary stop, similar to the way forced mental health evaluations or emergency restraining orders can be used. The stop would prevent gun or ammunition purchases. It should be criteria-based and subject to administrative or judicial review before being made permanent.
Sure. As long as we are going to rip up the Constitution, why not just make confetti out of it. No PC just the beat cop's opinion that it is necessary to stop gun or ammo purchases. :banghead: I can see the administrative delays while the administrative review is going conducted now. "Sorry, we have 2,500 reviews this month and just cannot get to all of them as fast as we would like."

I wonder how many cops like this stop and think "Gee, Obama is trying to strip all guns from civilians and WE will be the only ones with ANY kind of guns. So when really bad, EVIL guys want guns, where are they going to get them? And I wonder if they will say "Please" first?" I would think that cops would be 100% behind RESPONSIBLE people having guns - especially people who can pass the background checks for CHL's.

Made me wonder, and he is a public figure:

He is a graduate of the 201st FBI National Academy, the California Supervisory Leadership Institute, the FBI Southwest Command College and holds a graduate degree from the University of California, Irvine, in Criminology, Law and Society. He has served as a Commissioner for California POST and has been recognized as the most widely published public safety writer and photographer in the country. He has taught criminal justice classes for more than 20 years and is the Editor-in-Chief of Law Officer Magazine and LawOfficer.com. Stockton is the architect of Below 100, an officer-safety initiative designed to reduce police line-of-deaths, and has been involved in the presentation of the program across North America.
