How do Americans feel about the State of the Union?
USA Today (yes, I can't stand them either) asked social media users for a single word to describe the State of the Union. The following crowd-sourced graphic was compiled from that data. The larger the word, the more responses contained that word.

Two statements he made really stood out to me when he was speaking on gun control: as always he claims that in his travels it's become obvious that the "vast majority" of people, including 2cnd Ammendment supporters, are in favor of some "common sense" legislation to get rid of "assault weapons" and "high capacity magazines" and overwhelmingly favor universal background checks. He states this as a fact, when he KNOWS the surveys do not support those statements. Last night, he also made the statement that" all over the country, the police chiefs and other top law enforcement officials have told him they need the assault weapons ban...they don't want their guys and gals being outgunned by the bad guys with these military type weapons." That is just a flat out lie...or at best an intentional misrepresentation of the truth if you want to be PC...the man is not stupid, and he knows that none of the Law Enforcement agencies are in ANY WAY "outgunned" by anyone with an AR-15 or a 15 shot pistol. He made that same claim in a speech in Chicago recently.jimlongley wrote:bambam is a liar.

Obie-wan is a narcistic egomaniac who is physiologically dependent upon the "high" delivered to his brain by the royal receptions he receives at events such as last night's so-called "State of the Union" gathering, and his never-ending campaign tour.
When the bottom eventually falls out of his royal carriage - it won't be pretty.

Pretty funny that "Bush" is the third most common word mentioned. I don't know if this is due to Bush supporters or haters but it's interesting none-the-less.

Yep, looks like Bush is larger than Obama.thenick_ttu wrote:Pretty funny that "Bush" is the third most common word mentioned. I don't know if this is due to Bush supporters or haters but it's interesting none-the-less.
I guess the conservetives miss him and the socialist still blame him.

What union?
This country is more divided today than we were in 1860, except today it's not about human slavery, it's about urban culture vs. American culture, and the urbanites have the numbers, the media, AND the politicians.
Soon, they'll make you a criminal for possessing a firearm.
Soon, YOUR police will be raiding homes in the middle of the night, killing your pets, destroying your property, and doing it because a "neighbor" tipped them off that you had an "arsenal" in your home.
For your "safety" of course.

As we were watching it I paused it right at that point and told my wife the same thing regarding his misrepresentations.talltex wrote:Two statements he made really stood out to me when he was speaking on gun control: as always he claims that in his travels it's become obvious that the "vast majority" of people, including 2cnd Ammendment supporters, are in favor of some "common sense" legislation to get rid of "assault weapons" and "high capacity magazines" and overwhelmingly favor universal background checks. No matter how much you call something "common sense" doesn't make it true.
No matter how much you claim a "majority" agree with you doesn't make it true.
But he's going to try and make people think so anyways.

This is happening now. The frequency of these events will be ramping up.

FWIW, the original Civil War wasn't about slavery either; at least not at its inception.Texas Dan Mosby wrote:What union?

There is no way any LEO is outgunned by common criminals....
Another crisis to be solved by more inane legislation. If they keep pushing the story, enough may believe it to allow more infringement on the 2nd Amendment.

How would this new legislation process or could it play out ??. Can or or how long will the manufacturers keep the presses going? When would CON-gress be able to vote for or against the Feinstein legislation? How fast would any or some of it become law if passed ?

IIRC bills become law as soon as the president signs them, unless the bill itself says otherwise.
