Democratic strategist Jim Manley, a former spokesman for Sens. Harry Reid and Ted Kennedy, told the Washington Times that Texans should be demanding freshman Sen. Ted Cruz’s salary back.

“He may be standing on principle, but the fact is he has proven to be an entirely irrelevant to the Senate to date,” Manley said.
So a Dem strategist who has worked for two of the most execrable Senators in the history of the Senate thinks standing on principle makes you irrelevant? Says all you need to know about principles in Washington.

I guess acquiescing and going along so you can be on the winning side of a vote regardless what is right makes you a winner?

That's how you get Senators who vote for something before they vote against it or vice versa - lack of principle!

Getting nothing done is better than getting the WRONG thing done! I love that he is standing firm on principle. We need more of that from the Republicans.

I laughed out loud when I read this part...
Cruz’s senior Senate colleague from Texas, John Cornyn, made the Times’ “biggest loser” list, too, finishing at number five with a 2-for-11 record, tied with Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. Three senators placed just behind Cruz with one winning vote: Marco Rubio of Florida, Mike Lee of Utah and Tim Scott of South Carolina.
Paul, Rubio and Lee are three of my favorite people in the Senate and I like what I see from Cruz so far.
A Paul/Lee or Paul/Susana Martinez 2016 ticket would be fun to watch.

Sounds like they are trying to minimize Senator Cruz. I wonder if they are afraid of him. Kinda reminds me of what they did to Palin and they were terrified of her.

No, she did it to herself. Cruz is on a different plane and at this point, I'm glad he's representing us.

Hot Dog!

I couldn't agree more. We hear the Progressives moaning about gridlock. I'm all for it. "Compromise" simply means taking a littel bit slower road to the same destination.

They're just mad that he won't give in to them. That he won't bow and scrape and tug his forelock. If the definition of "winning" is voting for liberal-progressive bills, then I don't want a bit of it. I'm emailing Senator Cruz my thanks right now!

No, it wouldn't. Susanna Martinez is dumber than a box of rocks, and is someone I cannot vote for. As a New Mexico resident, I have seen her in action, in the court room (prior to running for governor), and she is fairly incompetent, but has judges in her pocket, and backers who support her because she'll follow orders. She's "conservative" because she and her backers know that no republican stands a chance in NM unless they're conservative; moderates don't have as much chance because we might as well vote for the democrat in that case.

Frankly, I'd almost rather have Bill "King Richard" Richardson back... at least that snake didn't pretend he didn't have scales. And he had a record of being at least somewhat pro-gun.

I agree, and on top of that, this is the Chron, for cryin' out loud. That's like trying to take the gospel on conservatives from Huff Po or The Daily Kos. They wouldn't know the truth if it reared up and bit them on the butt.
