URGENT ALERT – YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
CULLERTON TO INTRODUCE NEAR TOTAL GUN BAN ON JANUARY 2ND

In part:
Illinois Senate President John Cullerton will introduce a so called “assault weapons” ban on Wednesday when the legislature returns for its “lame duck” session. Cullerton hopes to ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police.

Based on what we know about Cullerton’s bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. T

This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called “assault weapons” but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO SAVE YOUR GUNS.

1. Beginning Wednesday, call your State Senator and politely tell him ...

I thought "someone" just ruled that the 2nd amendment applied to Illinois, too. how can you "carry" if you can't have something to carry???

Wasn't Ill. Just ordered to implement a concealed program in the next 180 days? "You can have a license, but you can't have a gun!" Sheesh. :banghead:

I thought of posting something like that...glad to see I'm not the only one that thought that way. I'm certain the NRA and TSRA are keeping a close eye on that business.

Someone might have already mentioned this, but this bill in Illinois is a joke. It's just simply unconstitutional. It won't last long, if it even ever passes. The Supreme Court is going to get very annoyed with state legislatures defying their clear cut rulings. Antonin Scalia will vomit over this bill, and it will slowly dissolve in his precious gastric juices that help feed his wonderful brain. If they want to ban and confiscate ALL guns, they must repeal the 2nd amendment. It's that simple. God Bless!

That state has/requires an FOID right?
Firearms Owner ID card?

I'm not sure how that works, but seems like
IIRC, There has always been a contention that registration leads to confiscation.

So the Ill. State Police, where you obtain your FOID registering your name, address, firearms list etc, is the group charged with confiscation under the bill .... how convenient

My card will soon expire and with no renewed card I will be in commission of a felony by simply possessing my own firearms unless I remove them from my residence to someone’s residence with a current FOID card prior to expiration.
The State lags or stops issuing renewals for some reason ... So the State Police Computer pops up the list of expired cards, and it's time for collection ... how convenient There's no need to pass any other gun control laws.

Yes, IL requires a FOID, but having a FOID does not indicate you actually own a firearm. While we lived in IL my wife had a FOID, but owned no firearms, and I knew lots of others in similar circumstances. One of the things about IL's FOID law is that it would be illegal for a person to handle a gun without a FOID. Although it is necessary to have a FOID to purchase a gun, your FOID information is not recorded at the sale, not even on the federal 4473, although a check is run with Illinois State Police along with the NCIC check, no record of the transaction is supposed to be kept by them, and the firearm being purchased is not mentioned during the check.

So year from now if this craziness passes, they could be building a lot of new prisons to house all these felonies.

I saw this earlier today on my other gun forum. I, too, am a former resident of Illinois and like Jim and SeamusTX, I once had a FOID. That was quite some time ago when they were new.

In my unconsidered opinion, Illinois should secede from Chicago and Cook County. Chicago is not Illinois and Illinois sure ain't Chicago...or it wasn't 40 years ago.
