Trayvon may change Texas's "Castle Doctrine"
It didn't take long.

Representative Garnet Coleman feels that Texas's Castle Doctrine gives Texan's too much latitude to shoot first and ask questions later. So he will introduce a bill to change Texas's Castle Doctrine. This view is because of the recent death of Trayvon Milller.
My understanding (please correct me if I am wrong) is that when I am in my house in Texas and an intruder breaks in, I am not required to retreat from the threat, but I may use immediate deadly force to neutralize the intruder.
I guess Garnet would like it instead, that I be required retreat into a closet and barricade my self in there and if I am forced by the threat of death or physical harm, I may as a last resort (if I am still alive) use deadly force against the uninvited guest.
Apparently Mr. Coleman feels the need to protect people who break into houses from being injured or killed as they may be inside your home in some sort of misunderstanding that sometimes occurs in the world. Apparently he and his constituency are concerned about the loss of life of these individuals, who only need more understanding and guidance in their lives.

It won't pass.

...some politicians feel it necessary to show solidarity and appear to be on the side of their constituency in order that they are assured the support of their voters...even though they know they're on a fool's errand...

I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

Take the opportunity to let him know we don't appreciate his knee jerk reactive meddling with a well crafted and appropriate law. You can email him via his web site at: http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/me ... strict=147" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
