Abstract:
This Article chronologically reviews the British gun control which precipitated the American Revolution: the 1774 import ban on firearms and gun powder; the 1774-75 confiscations of firearms and gun powder, from individuals and from local governments; and the use of violence to effectuate the confiscations. It was these events which changed a situation of rising political tension into a shooting war. Each of these British abuses provides insights into the scope of the modern Second Amendment

What would be an interesting study is why our ancestors took the course they did and yet other British subjects took the course they did. Wonder how much living in a new wild world instead of a more settled "civilized" world had to do with it. Possibly the environment led to more self reliant and independent thinking people instead of the sub-servant ones some of us have become.

It might have had much to do with the sort of individuals who would choose to make the journey, forsake all their family and friends to start a new life in a verdant wilderness. That sort of person makes their own decisions.

I just read it, an noticed it had already been posted on the forum. Good read.

An interesting comparison might be USA vs. Australia. Our founders came here in search of a place to be free, while they were sent there as part of a penal colony.
