Texas License Plate Law?????

One of the things I've learned over the last few years is that sometimes our pro-second amendment friends aid the Texas legislature in writing bills that interest us.
I suspect that someone that drives a vette and doesn't like front license plates aided them with a change to the license plate law. I don't drive a vette but I don't like the way the front license plate hangs on my current car or my last one.
If I am reading this article correctly, you can remove both plates soon, because the law has a small mistake. There is no requirement for a back license plate either.

I am sure this is a mistake. I just can't tell if its a reporter of the Texas State Government.
Either way, it's funny, I don't care who you are.
Your Mileage may very.

Maybe if they weren't so busy fighting rational gun laws like campus carry, the legislators wouldn't have goofed this up. Assuming it wasn't an intentional loophole by some guerrilla lawmaker.

I remember hearing/reading about this "oooops" awhile back. I have a vette, and yes, as you can guess, NOT a fan of the front plate.

So, what's the bottom line on the front plate now? Can I take mine off?

...it's amazing how many minor but real violations you can observe while watching someone drive, once they have done something to draw your attention...

So after 1/1/12, do we or don't we need a front license plate?

There will no longer be a fine for not having license plates - I read it as the front plate is not required and rear plate is now optional since there is no fine imposed for not having plates displayed.
I bought a new car and didn't put the front plate on the bumper, its in the front window. As of Jan 1 the front plate will not be in the window anymore, but I will keep the rear plate on. No reason to draw any more attention from law enforcement than needed.
I posted this a while back on a car forum and there was a LEO that said they have not been made aware of the change (yet). What about the LEO's on here? What is your take on this law? The AG was supposedly reviewing this, any news from them yet?

My son told me about this just last night. He was happy, as the only ticket he's ever gotten was for making a right turn on a red light onto a freeway frontage road on his way to work one morning, without having come to a complete stop at the light. The radar camera picked him up. He said that he's going to print out a copy of the law and keep it in his glove box to show cops if he gets stopped without his plates on the car (instead of inside the car).
I held my tongue.
