Did the texting while driving bill pass?

If so, does that include even sending the text message by dictating it to your phone via voice commands?

And to make this gun related. Does it also include typing a text message with the nose of your pistol?

Never point your gun at anything you're not willing to destroy!:

IIRC the final version includes not only "typing" a text, but "reading" one too.

Eyes on the road; Pull over, stay safe.

what if it's not a text? Email? A map? I've even seen people reading books in slow traffic. Non-electronic reading material?

This whole thing is silly. There are infinite 'distractions' that a driver is subject to. Are we going to outlaw all of them separately?

What about checking out the good-looking person (pick your sex) walking down the sidewalk? Are we going to outlaw that, too?
How about fiddling with electronic equipment, radios, GPS, etc?

I can download an app to read texts to me when I receive one then to reply,I just gave to hold down a button for a second or two and tell my phone what to text and to who.

Would that be illegal under the new law? I mean, I'd actually have to touch a button on my phone.

You know what they would have to outlaw, don't you? KIDS! I've often wondered how many accidents are caused by moms having to deal with kids fussing in the car....I've never been so "distracted" as when the kids were young and/or fighting....now...they want to drive...ugggg.

Of course they would. My argument against the anti-celllphone laws were that children should be outlawed from cars in school zones before cellphones! (After all, its for the children! )

OK I think I found the answer to my questions

(c-1) An operator may not use a hand-held wireless
communication device to read, write, or send a text-based
communication while operating a motor vehicle unless the vehicle is
stopped.
(c-2) An operator is not subject to prosecution under
Subsection (c-1) if
:
(1) the operator uses a hand-held wireless
communication device
:
(A) to read, select, or enter a telephone number
or name for the purpose of making a telephone call;
(B) in conjunction with voice-operated
technology or a hands-free device
; or
(C) to navigate using a global positioning
system; or
(2) the hand-held wireless communication device:
(A) is used by the operator to relay information
between the operator and a dispatcher in the course of the
operator's occupational duties; and
(B) is affixed to the vehicle.

So if I use voice commands to send a text message, I'm safe.
If I use my gun as a hands free device then... my phone might have a few holes in it... :leaving

Oh! That gives me an idea!!!
Metal targets that when hit with a bullet, presses a key on a cell phone!
It could be the next big thing!

A competition could be help and whoever makes the least typos wins!

OK, so not very feasible.

Hmmm, so if your iPhone is connected to the car via the docking connector, is it still considered a "wireless"'device?
