Call Your Rep TODAY To Help Campus Carry!

Campus Carry Advocates:

As you’ve likely already heard, campus carry was passed out of the Texas Senate today (http://fb.me/WJdCVuxp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) as an amendment to SB 1581, a higher education finance bill. That’s very good news, but this fight is far from over. This is what we need our supporters to do ASAP:

1. Call YOUR State Representative (http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), and encourage him/her to support the campus personal protection provisions of SB 1581/HB 3639.

2. Call, fax, and email Representative Jim Pitts, author of HB 3639 and chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, and encourage him to support the campus personal protection provisions of SB 1581/HB 3639.

Representative Jim Pitts
Phone: (512) 463-0516
Fax: (512) 463-1051 (use FaxZero.com to send two free faxes per day, from your web browser)
jim.pitts@house.state.tx.us

As always, if you’re currently affiliated with a college or university, be sure to mention the college and your affiliation (i.e., "I’m a student at Texas Tech,” “I teach at Texas A&M,” “I’m employed by the University of Texas,” “I have a daughter at the University of North Texas,” etc). And when faxing or emailing, be sure to include your name, phone number, and mailing address.

This really is the final push, so let’s give it everything we have. Thanks for all your help!

Sincerely,

Students for Concealed Carry on Campus

P.S. - Please pass this along! If we want this legislation to pass, we need to get EVERYONE calling in! So please pass this along if you're in College Republicans, Young Conservatives, Etc. Parents should even call in!

Done.

Called Pitts' office, told the staffer to please support the campus personal protection provisions in the bills.

I then said I have a nephew going to college, and we would rest easier knowing he wasn't in a gun free zone.

Then the staffer asked, "So....are you for guns on campus, or against?"

I decided to fax Lozano's office.

She probably hears "...kid in college...gun-free zone..." from those opposed to it and had to stop and clarify what she heard.

Emailed my Senator the other day, emailed AND called my House Rep this morning. The girl that answered the phone
was actually reading the email I had sent when I called. I am PROUD that both my Sen and Rep are Pro CHL and 2A.

Kory Zipperer posted a easy link to your Rep's contact info. Take 30 seconds out of your day (like right now) and make those
support calls.

Did the opposite. All representatives called.

The lady answering Ogden's phone said, "Oh yes, we got your fax.":

I was just thinking if Dr. Suzanna Hupp, who Aycock replaced had still been in office and co-authored the House bill .... wonder what all the John Woods callers would be hearing when they called HER ... :bigmouth :mad5  :eek6

Heck, I'd volunteer to drive to Austin to help answer her phone "rlol" :smilelol5:

The Pitts staffer asked me the same thing. He wanted to be sure he put me in the right column "because we've been getting LOTS of calls on this."

He could use a few more calls, too.
"I don't know how that would ever be useful, but I want two!"

Yes, Woods/Goddard and out-of-towners (out of State)are flooding Pitts and Aycocks (and Strouss') offices with calls
Aycock's staffer I just talked to chered up when he found out I lived in Aycock's district and not in New York and was for guns instead of against and that I voted for Aycock and knew that he took over when Dr. Suzanna Hupp retired. I reminded the Staffer how us near Killeen feel about concealed carry. (Staffer was young, might not have known) "rlol"
But be sure they understand "for guns on campus" ... they are all asking twice I think.
1. Speaker Joe Straus: (512) 463-1000
2. Rep. Jim Pitts: (512) 463-0516
3. Rep. Jimmie Aycock: (512) 463-0684

yeah, what was that that one just said? "I promise this isn't a concealed weapon" the guy talking about the "Myth" of sanctuary cities"

The democrats are stalling .... but maybe they are just waiting for the Senate Bill to get printed and brought over (unless that was in the stack with the "Blue Backs" brought this morning?

Same guy talking about picking cotton (My dad and his brother and their dad picked cotton AND pulled bolls ... but they were here legally.)
Barack Obama is in Texas. He will make two stops in the Lone Star State, first in El Paso to speak about immigration reform, and ending his trip with a stop in Austin to push his re-election campaign.

While details of his speech have not been released, those affiliated with the party say he will touch on re-election campaign for the 2012 Presidential Election. It is likely he will also discuss immigration legislation following the approval of a sanctuary city bill among Texas state lawmakers Monday night.

Today is "just for show" maybe I kinda doubted it would be brought to the floor today, unless it's late this evening ... but it could be , or tomorrow
