I saw that too and had to rewind it to make sure I heard it right. Easy slip. You could tell that Geraldo was being very careful after that not to do it again.

That also happened this morning on a Austin radio station.

Thinks Geraldo had lots of tingles last evening ?

I tried to watch the news on Fox, I really did. But Geraldo is just SO BAD that I had to switch to CNN. He's gotta be, hands down, the worst reporter/talking head on any network. (well, now that olbermanns gone, anyway). From his weird pausing at odd times in a sentence to the nonsensical things he says...I just couldn't take it.

I've heard several people today substitute Obama for Osama.
Ric Santelli called him Obama Bin Laden.

And Bret Baier (sp?) was in studio fairly quickly (definitely before Obama speech) but he kept doing the side chair role for a while as Geraldo continued making a fool of himself in lead anchor chair. They shouldn't yanked Geraldo the second Baier (who is a sound journalist) showed up.

As much as I like Fox's analysis much of the time (Cavuto is excellent IMHO and Liz Clavin on Fox Business is the best business news analyst, YMMV), Fox really stinks at reporting actual NEWS. Their coverage of the Japan nuke disaster was abominable, showing the glaring gaps in their ability to do actual REPORTING of news as it happens. CNN is a FAR better NEWS organization. It's unfortunate CNNs' bias towards to the left is so extreme to be unpalatable.

Teddy Kennedy was probably the most famous for confusing the names of Obama and Osama. The possible confusion can be avoided by just referring to our President as King Hussein. No . . . that's not nice.

Oliver North just made the same goof on FOX now.

The fact that we're more accustomed to saying Obama, that Osama is only one letter off, and that Osama is immediately followed by a B in Osama bin Laden make them so close in pronunciation that it is no wonder so many fast-talking, time-crunched news heads are saying Obama when they want Osama. I think it is wise that some are switching to Usama, but the American media uses Osama as the transliteration of his name so frequently, and has for so long, that that's probably a hard switch, too.
