I don't know if this has been posted yet, but there's a quote running on various boards regarding the rush on firearms, magazines and ammo:

"This is not a large number of individuals looking to acquire firearms before they are banned, this is a society arming itself for war."

I sure hope not.

Andy, I am with you. I hope that we don't have a war either. There may be a few that bought with that thought (war) in mind but a lot of folks are just plane scared. One of the men I work with is from the northeastern part of the US and moved to the Houston area a few years back. He and his wife have recently decided to go from a home with no firearms to one that will have one because of all that is going on now. What pushed them over the edge was a bank robbery near their home prior to the school shooting. They never thought that they would take this step. They are also considering getting their CHLs.

I do hope that all of this buying activity sends a very clear message to those that want to restrict our right to own firearms that the public is not in favor of that move.

History suggests you are not even close. In Australia at the end of the buyback,registration and destruction of turned in firearms there are still 25% unaccounted for... I think the number will be closer to 50% here.

Gentlemen,

You guys do my heart good and give me hope. I am a life long Texan and I love what our country stands for. At least what we the people stand for, not what the criminal element that has taken over our government, wants to make our country into.

My grandfather’s generation fought World War II to save the country from an evil that many in our land now seem so eager to embrace. I’m surrounded by otherwise intelligent men that just don’t care what the government does as long so they can watch the game each Sunday, get their beer at the corner store and view their internet porn. I truly believe that some people just can not believe things are as bad as they are simply because CNN and FOX News have not told them.

I also will NOT register or give up my firearms, I am too old and out of shape to run and fight so I will stand my ground and fight from my house and be the one old man you will see on the news when the story comes on stating that the police have eliminated a domestic terrorist with a stockpile of weapons, including several Evil Black Rifles.

The 2nd amendment is worth dieing for. It is one of the main reasons we enjoy the freedoms we have left.

Five plus years ago, I joined an outdoor recreation club here in Houston call Bayou City Outdoors. I thought it would be fun to learn about kayaking, back packing, etc. and this club offered that. They communicated through Facebook so I set up a Facebook to keep up with what was going on with the group. I soon learned that many in that club were very liberal. One day, one of the ring leaders (a very wealthy attorney in Houston) put a post on Facebook about what a horrible bunch the Oath Keepers were. I had never heard of them so I looked them up on the internet. I replied back that I thought they were a good group, doing what they should be doing. That started a long Facebook conversation between the two of us. During that conversation, he told me that there would come a time where the liberals would over through the country and that the UN would invade to help with the takeover. He said that they hoped that the conservatives would lay down their arms and not fight. It was like hearing a liberal version of Survivors by Rawles with the liberals prevailing and seemed to be a far out liberal fantasy at the time. After a number of exchanges, he unfriended me and I lost the chain of communications. I wish I had saved that chain of communications in a word document as it was interesting reading.

Those folks (liberals/progressive/whatever you want to call them) are very serious about what they want to do to this country. On the plus side, he bought a Glock 9mm. He then went to the range and posted a picture of the target he shot from 10 yards. Looked like someone shot it with buckshot from 25 yards with a cylinder bore chock. I hope that they all shoot like that.

If this guy is as well connected as he says he is, what we are seeing now is just part of the liberal plan to take over the country and they (liberals) are alive and well here in Houston.

I don't doubt for a second that this is part of his and other liberal's fantasies, but that's what it is, a fantasy. They are so firmly entrenched in the belief of their own intellectual and moral superiority that they can't conceive of any effective opposition. Introducing foreigners into their plans will cement their defeat. I hope they are as stupid as the attorney idiot you're talking about, because that stupidity will save the country.

That is exactly it....a fantasy. This is just a guess, but I'm willing to bet that conservative gun buyers outnumber liberal gun buyers something like 20 to 1. So just how are liberals going to "overthrow" the government? LTUME1978, your friend's fantasy includes involving the U.N. precisely because he is fully aware that he and his fellow travelers are fairly impotent in that regard. He hopes that "the conservatives would lay down their arms and not fight" because he knows in the end that this is the only way his impotent little fantasy can possibly come to fruition. My guess is that out of ALL of his liberal friends, there can't be more than 2 or 3 others who own any kind of firearm at all, and his little ol' Glock 9mm isn't going to be worth much against a guy with an AR15............let alone 20 guys with AR15s.......and my guess is that very few people in his circle bought themselves an EBR.

Annoyed Man, I never said this guy was my friend. I did not like him any more than anyone on this board. I dropped out of the club shortly after the exchange mentioned in my post as I could tell I was not welcome with my conservative, Christian position.

My concern is that the liberals may try to use the gangs to do their dirty work. One of my brother-in-laws best friend is a retired HPD SWAT sniper. He indicates that those in his circle in HPD think the gangs will take over Houston within 2-3 days of the wheels falling off and then start working their way out. He said they are not sure how far out they will get before they are stopped. Not sure if that will happen but would not be a surprising thing with our liberal leaders.

I've always been puzzled about the "UN" fears. That organization can't do squat, and if it came to blows, they would take months, if not years, to figure out what to do (aside from writing angry letters). Besides, they'd be too busy evacuating from New York to worry about "helping out"

While I realize that others have taken affront to this statement, I think I should remind you of two salient points:
1) Early organization of a group with stated violent opposition to the federal government will be immediately arrested. It's against the law, and I would hope that nobody on here has taken that position now. We have a system and we should respect it and work within it. We are nowhere near such considerations, even though some may privately entertain the notion. When you read headlines about how many people seem against us, remember that there are elected representatives that are on our side. A LOT of them.
2) All organization comes out of chaos. If called, you will see things come together quickly.

I agree wholeheartedly about working with our representatives, but please keep the "tough talk". It's what I look forward to when coming here to feel encouraged that there are people left in this nation that are willing to take a stand for what is right. I lurk on here a bunch, especially after trying to sit through the evening news propaganda crud. I thank many of you on here for a little light at the end of a bleak looking tunnel.
