House Elections happen every two years. If Democrat anger towards Trump produced a swing in the House and lost seats in the Senate at its zenith, I'm hard pressed to call that much of a victory for them.

The Senate confirms USSC justices, and there are two such justices on the left end of the court who are over 80. Justice Amy Coney Barrett has a nice ring to it, no?

This is going about as well as the GOP could have expected. Obama fared much, much worse in 2012. Also, looks like a pickup of four is likely in the Senate (sorry to see that John James couldn't hold momentum in Michigan, those racists!)

Also, their lead in the House, assuming they do in fact take it, is hardly commanding and probably just enough to hang themselves with.

I heard an interesting analysis as I was flipping across channels tonight.

On CBS (of all places), they were talking about the probable narrow lead for Ds in the House, and the probable gains in the Senate for the Rs. They drew the parallel with Clinton in his election rebid - how it really helped him to have Gingrich and the R House as a foil to run against.

If this parallel remains the same, then it COULD do Trump a favor to have a strong Senate (for SCOTUS confirmations), and a weak D majority in the House come 2020. With the weak majority, they can't do much (although they gain some subpoena power), but he could use their own majority against them for his own reelection campaign.

Or so says the guy on the news...

I am disappointed in the loss of majority in the house. Let's hope the leftist radicals don't create too much disruption.

My ignore list of politicians just got bigger, that's all. I'll probably wear out my mute button, but new cable remotes are free. The Dems in the House will cut their own throats in 2020 with endless investigations and impeachment attempts. Nothing will get done in the next two years, but what else in new.

Next election is even more critical. Demographics are changing fast. More inflows to Texas.

My prediction is that Mueller releases his report and announces the conclusion of his investigation.
House Democrats with their newly regained majority decide to launch a 2 year long "investigation" occupying their time until the 2020 election.
This COULD potentially work in Trump's favor as it could show that the Democrats accomplished nothing but more than a wild goose chase.
This could give the Republicans control of both houses and the White House until at least 2024.
With each passing year, it increases the chances of one of the other left leaning SCOTUS justices stepping down.

I don't think Beto will beat Ted Cruz.

The left is already calling for Beto to run against Trump in 2020.

Congrats Ted Cruz!!! :txflag:

Still can't believe the arrogance of wealthy out of stater's trying to hi-jack our Texas election. They don't live here and have no right to interfere with our election.

Unfortunately the out of state interference elected a football player for my representative. Lets hope Colin Allred doesn't have brain damage like 96 percent of all NFL players. Having a football player as our congressman is a little uncomfortably close to the movie Idiocracy for our family.

Dallas got slammed again when we lost Don Huffines. We will miss Don Huffines. God Bless you sir! :txflag:

Yep. A win is a win but Irish Bob is already claiming that the small margin signals a victory :banghead:

Cruz ran a virtually non-existent campaign and Sessions never got off the ground. Sessions almost seemed to give up before he ever even got in the fight.

So now in Dallas we are stuck with Socialist Collin AllRED as our Congress critter and a DemocRat DA.

Wonder where the best place is to move to in Texas? Suggestions? start a poll? :totap:

Johnson County, where I live, has consistently voted red. In fact several judges, and even a State Representative Republican ran unnopposed. The Sherrif, Constables, most County Commissioners, etc, are Republican. Plus there is almost never traffic jams, no antifa protests, or gang violence. I don't know of any Synogogues but you would be welcome at my Methodist Church.
