The "eyewitness" in the video emphatically said it was a pump action shotgun, and yet we appear to have proof that it was in fact an AR15. Perhaps he didn't actually SEE the gun, but he heard the charging handle being cycled and assumed that it was a pump being cycled. He also described a loud "BOOM" (as opposed to a sharp "crack" or "pop") which to him sounded like a shotgun … but contained within the confines of a cavernous terminal, it may well have sounded more like a boom than the sharp bark of a small caliber rifle out doors.
Yeah, what you say does sound plausible. And I thought maybe the guy just wanted to seem "cool" to the news cameras, too. These events are so tragic with the loss of life, and so maddening because it seems they are always shrouded in mystery and the public never gets a straight answer.

Now we know where the phrase "lax security" comes from.

Don't worry guys, soon you will have to pass through x-ray scanners to enter the front doors of an airport... until someone shoots up the parking lot / drop-off area.

It seems the general opinion on the 'net in forums I read is to NOT allow TSA to become armed, yet the same people call for allowing teachers and others to carry a gun anywhere they go.

IMO the leo's did just fine so do not arm TSA.

Teachers and others can't grope my wife, stick their hands in my grandchild's diaper, fine me, stop my vehicle at a roadblock, search me at a bus or train station, or detain me. We don't need a bunch of under trained low paid government agents who are already abusing their unjustified authority to apply that unjustified authority with lethal force. The last thing we need are wannabe cops with guns.

:iagree: I actually talked to a TSA guy when I was moving here as I needed a job. He lost me when he started talking about being an "off duty leo" when he goes home and tried to give me a speech on turning the leo part on and off... He didn't like my reply that he is a security guard and not a leo. They probably do important work, but it has gotten carried away.

Hum, I've never been to LAX but I'm thinking there might have been a little more than a 100 people in the terminal.

Anyone ever notice members of a certain pollical persuasion have literally changed the meaning of literally... :bigear:
