What is your Number 1 Poltical Goal other than Gun Rights?

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

I still believe that the best we can hope for in the next 2 years, eleven months, is total gridlock.

Why limit the time? We would have benefited from more gridlock over the past 15-20 years.

My #1 political goal, other than gun rights, is a fair Federal income tax. I prefer no income tax, but fairness would be a giant step toward American ideals like equality and justice. Fair would be everyone paying the same % for all earned income, no matter how much they earn, how many houses they own, marital status, age, number of children, state and local taxes, et cetera. Everyone pays their fair share.

my preference for a nice term of gridlock is to give everyone a chance to recover from the shock of the last 15-20 years worth of legislation, and figure out what all needs to be scraped. Newt started it in '94, but it was left unfinished....then after he was railroaded out of the House, the whole movement to streamline the federal government went to pot. We need some intellegent life form in Congress to expose the multitude of laws we have on the books that punish achievement, discourage hard work, and rob from those, and their families that have built productive businesses that create real jobs. If the average voter were to really think about what his/her goal's were, and the level of success that they desired, then investigate the demands legislated upon those folks, they may open their eyes and drop the class envy. Over regulation and high taxes discouragee achievement....it's happened that way every time it's been tried.

I would like to see absolutely NO new federal legislation under this current regime, and then a two year period of studying remedies to eliminate 75% of the current laws on the books. The next two years could then be spent crafting a single law, in the form of a Constitutional Amendment that would clearly limit the Interstate Commerce Clause.

There has to be some way to clean up this stinking, rotten mess we have.

All laws enforced equally, for citizens, legislators, representatives, senators, and bureauocrats.

Bureauocrats and their agencies, do not have the ability to make law, empose taxation without representation, fines, fees, or make up their own terms which you are able to challenge them on their mandates.

Elected representatives represent the majority of the people that elected them!

For every new law passed, FIVE old ones should be removed from the books first. I read somewhere that every citizen in the United States is in violation of an average of 12 laws at any given time. Who knows? There are some many, no one can keep up with them.

Let the fun begin!
I'd add Reid, Rangel, Schumer, Boxer, Feinstein, Stuart Smalley, etc.

And though she's not really in office, I'd be very happy to see Palin go away...
Ditto. Her voice grates on my nerves.

Pesonal wish list, not in any particular order

Simplified tax code.... everyone pays

Drug Problem. If we think the drug violence in Mexico and South America is not coming up here, we are kidding ourselves. Got to figure out how to lessen the demand for the product. I would be interested in legalizing marajuana and treating it just like you do alcohol with regards to driving, public intoxication, etc.

Immigration

Allow gay marrage. Last I saw, homosexuals were humans too.

Teachers, Fireman and Police. Figure out a way to hire more of them, at better pay, without raising taxes.

Teachers Union, Police Unions, Fire Unions, but you would have to raise taxes.
Or you privatize those jobs

I'd go the other way and have the government get out of the marriage business all together. I do support Gay and Lesbian rights, they're just folks like you or I.

  • ADHERE TO THE CONSTITUTION
  • No law can include something for any particular state or district in it other than what is being passed. In other words eliminate the bribes like the Cornhusker and LA deals seen in the HC bill. If they can't get the bribe in the bill they might not vote for some of the things they do now.
  • Tax based on consumption, not income, totally removing the power of the Federal government. Make it so you don't pay tax on items purchased used or from resale, food, and prescriptions and the poor won't be hit. I know when I was 20 something I was buying stuff from flea markets, goodwill, and garage sales.
  • Ban property taxes and move to a total sales tax here in Texas. You pay a tax on the initial purchase of property, but the government cannot take it from you after that if you don't have the money to pay what I call the annual government lease.
  • No pension, paid by tax money, for those serving in Congress, or any other higher office. That way you serve because you want to represent rather than get a free ride the rest of your life.
  • Elect Senators through the state legislature as originally designed and set up an election by the people as it is now if they don't do it within a given time frame. That was that way so that they could be recalled when they refused to represent the state correctly.
  • Phase out SS, and Medicare. Instead, encourage investment in private programs and charities. If the government wasn't stealing it from us via the IRS and other taxes we would have more to give.
  • Get Fed Government out of education keeping it state and local.
  • RKBA
  • Reciprocity for Concealed Carry. Base it similar to DL to protect State's Rights. Thune's bill was not that bad as it made it exactly like a DL and you had to follow the local rules and if they didn't have a permit there you couldn't carry there. I travel a LOT for work to other states and hate that I can't carry in many that I go to, namely: NY, NJ, CA, WA, IL, etc. I know this is touchy and I don't want the Federal Government to tell every state what they can and can't do.
  • Enforce Illegal Immigration Laws, we wouldn't need the fence if they did this.
I think Number 1 is just to adhere to the Constitution, but I found a soapbox after I typed it. LOL

:iagree: homosexuals and polygamists should be able to marry who they love.

Get government out of marriage and get rid of the single/married/HoH income tax discrimination. Even better would be eliminating income tax and go to consumption taxes and user fees.

Get rid of the pensions and we can offer better pay. Let them put a piece of their salary into a retirement fund, exactly like the people who pay their salaries. Same with health insurance.
