VM177. You sir are right on point and I could not agree more! It makes me wonder what "medications" that may be put on a list that would forever prohibit gun ownership? And what would be the qualifying factor of medications?

Re: Obama Announcing Gun Restrictions Tomorrow
The more I think about and hear what others are saying, the scarier it seems. Not for next week or next month perhaps, but in the next few years. As far as who is dangerous goes, I borrowed the following from a comment on another forum:
And I'd add, having more than a 7 day supply of food on hand. Also owning gold/silver. Not taking the good vaccines from our friends at big pharma. Protesting the banksters. Homeschooling. Questionning the government on anything. Hating on Bernanke or Krugman, those geniuses! Asking questions about Fast And Furious and Benghazi! Protesting the Obama wars or abuse of power and secret assassinations. Etc...

Re: Obama Announcing Gun Restrictions Tomorrow
I see we have differing opinions on his EO's. I have yet to actually read any of them and only take them at face-value based on the summaries provided by the OP.VMI77 wrote:You're way too trusting. This is the Obama administration we're talking about.
I won't go on to the rest because they all really amount to the same thing.
I know darn well what his "intent" is on many of them. I also know that on the face of the majority of them that I feel no need to demonize them. I am not going to spit and throw offal at every pronouncement that comes out of his mouth despite my intense dislike and distrust for him.
Many of the EO's are common-sense and simply emphasize what many of us already say in regards to enforcing already existent laws. I clearly defined the ones that I see potential problems with.
Please don't mistake my use of the phrase 'common-sense' with the gun-grabbers version of it. Our meanings differ completely.

I may stray close to the topic line here, but that sentence I agree with. Jesus said to love each other as we love ourselves. In all this blaming of inanimate objects, I think we're not placing the blame where it belongs - on the people and institutions that don't help each other. I wonder if anyone had really cared about these guys in Columbine and Aurora and Newton - what happened to them etc.. and treated them with some form of kindness and respect then what would have happened. The California kid with the shotgun was talked down when a teacher stood up and talked to him and showed him that somebody cared. If the doctors and school administrators had tried to help the kid in Aurora instead of getting rid of him as fast as possible... If Adam Lanza had had any real friends or human connection.... etc.. etc.. Its' always the same "nobody talked to them. Nobody cared. then they went and killed people to get attention". It doesn't have to be that way and it doesn't have a thing to do with guns.mojo84 wrote:Obama: "We are responsible for each other". Sheds some light on his agenda.
We warehouse kids. We over-medicate them. We make every process- to get health care, to get mental health care, to get anything- as burdensome and dehumanizing as possible. We take God and self-worth and human dignity out of every day life. We coddle people and tell them that they deserve everything even if they don't work for it. We don't have jobs for people and we make them beg for bread from the state. Then we're amazed when they do evil things.
Gun control is not the answer to these problems. Treating people like they're people is the answer, and that's something that is fading fast in a lot of ways.

Re: Obama Announcing Gun Restrictions Tomorrow
I've grown very cynical in my old age. I think where our views differ is this...you're right, on the whole, they don't sound bad, and that was my first reading. But then I asked myself, has Obama, Holder, Big Sis, et al, ever told the truth about anything? Just one significant lie is enough to question everything someone says, but this bunch has lied repeatedly since it has been in power. To me that means I have to interpret what the EOs actually say as something different than their intended meaning since Mr. Obama has no reliable history of telling the truth. He and Biden have been saying since 2008 that they're not coming after our guns, and they have both personally repudiated that lie by their actions.Purplehood wrote:I see we have differing opinions on his EO's. He doesn't mean the same thing that you do. He means YOU and ME are responsible for the Newton killings, and Columbine, and Aurora. He means the makers are responsible for providing the takers with a living. He doesn't mean what Jesus said, because he doesn't even love the useful fools who voted for him, and he most certainly DOES NOT love you, me, or any of us who post on this board. He and his and the rest of TPTB are excluded from the conduct of which Jesus spoke. No rules apply to them, no laws apply to them, and their limits are only what they think they can get away with.
Edited to add:
....as illustrated by their blatantly illegal conduct cited in the lawsuit at the link posted above by RPB.

I understand what you are saying but have to diferentiate between what I pointed out he said and what I think you are saying.
What Obama said is indicicative of collectivism/statism. "We are all responsible FOR each other". I strongly disagree with this and believe we are responsible for ourselves and loved ones which God places us responsible.
I also believe we are responsible TO each other to do our part as a productive member of society. Based on what Obama said, you and I are partially responsible for the shooter and what he did because we are responsible FOR him. That is nothing but guilt mongering collectivism/statism that is in direct contradiction to what this country was based upon and what is right.

Oh I am under no illusions that the intent behind those words is very different when he says them. Honestly, that is why I pity him. He knows the right grammatical constructions, but is blind to what they really should mean.mojo84 wrote:newTexan wrote:I may stray close to the topic line here, but that sentence I agree with. Re: Obama Announcing Gun Restrictions Tomorrow
He simply has a different perspective as to what it 'really should mean'. I disagree with his perception, but he isn't blind to the meaning. He simply sees it much like I see colors with Male-pattern Color-blindness when compared to someone with normal vision. I think the color looks one way, while someone else sees it as another...newTexan wrote:Oh I am under no illusions that the intent behind those words is very different when he says them. Re: Obama Announcing Gun Restrictions Tomorrow
“This is our first task as a society, keeping our children safe,” Obama said. “This is how we will be judged. And their voices should compel us to change.”
"Newtown touched Obama like nothing else in his presidency, he has said himself, and he has made gun control a top priority as he starts his second term."
The greatest threat to our children is the $16,000,000,000,000 (and growing) dept we are leaving them. Why not start with that if we are concerned about our children and their judgment. Future generations of Americans will curse us but it won't be for the lack of gun restrictions.
Obama is borrowing three million dollars an hour from the next generation including the children in the photo in order to make himself look good. Shameless.

Re: Obama Announcing Gun Restrictions Tomorrow
Obama received letter from children that touched him on an intellectual level, now gun control is his top priority.
Since when is this the standard operation procedure for the leader of the free world. Kids want this, it must be good. Well Mr. President, kids also want to stay up past their bed time, eat all their Halloween candy the same evening they got it, and many believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. I thought we ran this country based on the Constitution and laws passed in accordance with it. Next thing you know Obama will decree by Executive Order that bounce houses be available every day at recess all across the nation.
Give me a break.

Re: Obama Announcing Gun Restrictions Tomorrow
Since Nanny State welfare-ism turned the leading free world nation into a country of children. Official recognition of that transition occurred on November 6, 2012, so I'd have to say the precise answer to when the rule of children became SOP was November 6, 2012 --though some may argue the date as January 21, 2013, when The One falsely affirms his oath of office.Jaguar wrote:Obama received letter from children that touched him on an intellectual level, now gun control is his top priority.
