Does it make me have any less Mexican heritage to have my people as Mexican citizens from here eight generations ago, as opposed to crossing the Rio Grande into the US two generations ago? If the Hispanic question only relates to Spanish, then no Mexicans in Texas could claim to be Hispanic unless traced prior to 1810.
My people on one side were immigrants to Texas when it was Mexico after 1824 (Mexican independence from Spain was 1810) but before 1836 Texas independence, but my wife has immigrants to Texas before 1810, before Mexican independence, Mexican citizens by default when Mexico declared it's independence..........so which one is the most Hispanic. Being blue eyed and blondes (now white hair) has never aided in the Hispanic heritage claim

Wonder if the Hispanic question is about drug cartels and gun running? Please note they did not include Texan (or Texican) as a choice for native race, which is completely accurate in both our cases
