I would hope that in the light of this kind of exposed testimonial fraud, senators/representatives would question future such witnesses about whether their loved one was killed with, or killed someone else, with a gun - and not some other instrument.

If it is found to be fraudulent testimony by reason of not being germaine to the topic, it should be struck from the record immediately, and the person testifying held in contempt (if the legislature has such a thing).

Of course not. If they were honest, their arguments would never hold up! Instead, they have to bend (and often break) the truth into a lie in order for their agenda to make sense to even themselves.

Her testimony was a classic example of "my son did this, so I expect everyone of that age to act the same." Classic hoplophobe projection. She intentionally used misleading testimony to manipulate emotions instead of relying on facts. Laws should never be created out of emotion, especially false ones.

My comment...
So let's start with someone declaring a person who exhibits these conditions/behavior as a "mental defective" which I believe are the exact words that the FEDERAL 4473 uses. If you answer dishonestly, your guilty of lying on the form and subject to those penalties in addition to whatever should be done (involuntary committment?) to an adjudged mental defective who tries to or does purchase firearms.

There are already laws... As some have said, this is a sad, depressing example of how our mental health care system has broken down.
