Welcome to the forum. I was carrying openly in Watauga last weekend. Sorry I missed you. ;-) Texas is a big place. With less than 4% of the population licensed, it seems unlikely that you would see anyone carrying openly in the normal course of events.

The issue was never that large numbers of license holders would choose to carry openly. The media and a few outspoken groups promoted that myth. I've carried openly in AZ, CO, OK, and NM. Now I can carry openly off of my property. :patriot: :txflag:
I am in the Keller area, maybe I will see ya sometime.

The thing is, each time I've oc'd now, I didn't leave the house that way. I have a "hanger-bender" heavy shirt with flannel lining that I wear as a light jacket, usually over a t-shirt or a short sleeved collared shirt. I wear those shirts tucked in, and carry OWB. The gun will stay covered unless it gets too warm to wear the overshirt......and it was 75° today, so te shirt-jacket eventually came off. Voila! OC.

Yesterday,my wife and I were in Lee's Lighting in Colleyville, and I had that same jacket on. After being in the store for a while, it got real warm in there with all the lights turned on. I told the young woman who was showing us around the store, "Listen, I didn't see any signs on your door when we came in, and I'm burning up and need to remove my jacket, but I have a holstered handgun on my belt. Is it going to bother you if I take my jacket off and open carry in here?" She said that no, it didn't bother her. She didn't know about the owners, but she knew that several of the women who work there carry, so no big deal. I told that's good, I just wanted to be respectful of others' feelings and ask before I exposed the gun, because you never know how people are going to react. I then took my jacket off and was comfortable for the rest of that visit.

So today makes only the 4th time for me. I still can't say that it is my preferred mode of carry, but I am getting a little bit more used to it. Even so, I don't think it will ever become my favorite way of doing it.

Oh, but wait... Houston is the largest city in the universe to graciously allow citizens to exercise their God-given right to bear arms. This has never been tried before, a gun around every corner and blood in the streets I tell you!!!

Turns out, OC is a non-issue, just like everywhere else that allows it. Imagine that... the liberals were wrong again. I think Reagan had something to say about that...

I was in Our Place a restaurant in Mansfield, Texas and witnessed a man Open Carrying. If I hadn't been going to work I would have also been Open carrying in there. They have a sign on the inside by the register that states Furearms are welcome just keep them holstered.

My friend and I both carry every weekend here in town and I have carried numerous times in SA.
No issues at all. Not sure if anybody even notices.
No fainting soccer moms/no children screaming/no blood running down the middle of the streets.
Totally uneventful!

I have only saw a couple people open carrying - I have only observed one or two people actually notice my open carried M&P45 (a pretty big gun in a Serpa rig) on my travels :cheers2:

Do they let city slickers come there now? Used to be they could get a ten day pass, but had to clear out before they started "homesteading."

My wife just returned from a visit home in SW France. She sent me a text from Paris, "too many people and not enough Frenchmen." A similar phenomenon seems to be affecting the hill country.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

I've been tempted to go to Brooks Place BBQ (Cypress) to OC because you get a 10% discount if you do!

It's not convenient for me, so I have yet to go, but I want that BBQ and I want to see how many OC there.
