I thought that too, until I met my wife, who is from that part of the country. Not all Yankees are liberals. I jokingly call her a "reformed Yankee," but the truth is, she was "reformed" long before I met her; for our first date, she asked to go to the range.

That's what we call a convert. Once converted they ain't Yankees no more.
