So, when it comes to treaties, the House is not involved at all. All it takes is for the Senate to approve the treaty by a two thirds majority, and the President to sign the treaty, and it becomes binding on the US. As to whether or not a treaty can abrogate the Constitution, it cannot, but that wouldn't stop our politicians from approving it anyway or the Executive branch from enforcing its provisions, Constitution notwithstanding.

But a treaty cannot nullify a constitutional amendment.

Heller was won by one vote. If/when it is revisited when Justice Kennedy or one of the four conservatives are off the bench and replaced with an anit-Second Amendment justice, then treaties can disarm Americans. The Second Amendment is just one heartbeat (Kennedy's) away from being history.

I got the same call earlier this week. Caller said they were a paid caller for the NRA and brought up the UN treaty - asked for $200.00. This call came from 703-939-9558. I have also received call from the NRA on 877-728-3486, 877-837-4130 and 703-988-6387. Usually multiple times a week. Anything with a 877 prefix i usually ignore - the 703 prefix fooled me - one tome only.

Apparently, they don't solicit members who have a $10.00 membership as I've never gotten a single call or any sort of request for money, ever...

I guess they weed us out as "El Cheapos" and not worth their time.

I am not, but fundamentally, it was the first mistake this country ever made. Giving SCOTUS the ability to dictate constitutionality, instead of relying on the 10th amendment.

Remember, the NRA gets paid for delivering you spam. Frequently, quite a lot of money. It doesn't matter if they're sending life insurance offers, discounts on car rentals, or purple widgets, they get a piece of delivering the message and a piece of whatever you buy. It's annoying, but it also helps supplement their war chest. I don't know if you can "opt out" of solicitations from the NRA, but that's where I would start.
