The government and elected officials lie to us on a daily basis anyway, so why be honest to a dishonest agenda???

When they make it illegal and punishable to lie to a healthcare administrator, then we may have a problem, but until then...

we have agreed as a family to say that we have guns and they are in the safe....truth is they are not all in the safe, we've out grown the safe and we don't keep our carry guns in the safe, we have and older teen and an adult teen and no longer feel the need to "safetify" everything. they both know where the guns are and how to protect themselves if we can't get to them.

It's funny that y'all have discussed this as a family. My wife, kids, and I did as well. Both kids understand that this is one of the few times where lying is completely acceptable and they will not be punished for it. Occasionally I'll randomly ask, "do you have guns in the house?" or "do your parents own any guns?". I either get an immediate "no sir" or a puzzled look followed by the same answer. My kiddos are well trained.

Better than lying about it, I would think, is to reply "what color is your underwear?" to people who ask questions that pry into private business that is immaterial to the issue at hand.

How interesting I received the same thing from my Chinese dry cleaner friend (who BTW forwards every email he receives without checking sources etc). This is SENSATIONAL!!!!!! :)

As does my Rabbi. but it has been reported in several media outlets that its illegal for medical professionals to ask about guns. It's also been reported that its not, that you have to answer, and that you have to answer truthfully. It doesn't surprise me that people don't know what the law really says. After all, they had to pass it in order to read it.

Being sarcastic doesn't really help. We need to be good ambassadors and help educate them. It's the only way to return this country to its roots without resorting to the bullet box (which may end up happening anyway).

I take no oath to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth to my MD. They are there to preform a service at my request. They are not there to interrogate me. Questions outside their jurisdiction will be met with answers that bear little resemblance to the truth.

I lie to most of the questions my Doc asks me. It prevents lectures.

Right after Obamacare passed, I went to the Dr., she asked me about having guns in the home, I of course said "no". Then I asked her why the question. She responded that it was part of Obamacare. I said but the it didnt take effect yet, then she says I know but I want to get a head start.

She then told me to bend over and assume the position and proceeded to check for stuff. The TSA would have been proud. She had long fingers and cold hands and not did not even bother to kiss me first. At least it was a girl and not some creepy old guy.

Still, I don't think I like her any more.

I guess starting this year military commanders can ask about privately owned guns, and not just people living on base. I am decidedly uncomfortable with them asking in a commander's capacity. What's next, ordered to turn in my firearms to the base armory?

My doctor and I talk about guns just about every visit. He's got a CHL and a Beretta PX4 (haven't noticed him carrying at the office) and is a member of the Fort Bliss Rod & Gun Club, as am I.

Guns are welcome at my doctor's office and I am on Medicare and nobody has asked me about my guns except in envy.
