The photo here is of a maritime reconnaissance/missile targeting version of the Tu-95 (TU-95RTs). That is not a missile. I got to sit in the cockpit of one of those back in my arms control treaty verification days. They had to demonstrate to the US that this variant was incapable of carrying air-launched cruise missiles (ALCMs) under the first Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). News reports indicate it was a Bear-H, which can carry ALCMs.Dragonfighter wrote:[ Image ]OldCannon wrote:That would be interesting. Although some bombers carry electronic pods that are "cruise missle" shaped. Not saying you're wrong, just that some are configured that way.Purplehood wrote:My take from the article is that the F-15 pilots ID'ed Cruise Missiles on the planes.OldCannon wrote:Not likely a bomber, but a Bear configured for recon. They do it to us, we do it to them. Was interesting this time because they flew around Guam.
Maybe Similar to the ShaRP used today by our military.

And both look like cruise missiles not yet deployed.
