There is no viable reason to object to conclusive voter identification....for a legitimate voter. In the immortal words of the late, great Pearl Bailley, "...either you is, or you ain't...."
The current POTUS and Eric Holder, et al, may take exception, but that's the way the Oldgringo sees it. Where the aforementioned come from, they may not wanna' know who's votin'?
{Let's hear it from forum members who are uh, er...uh sufficiently mature to know of Pearl Bailly. Anybody...?}
Thank you kind sir... I am recently ugh...44 and seem to remember (vaguely) Miss Bailly.

I'm not comfortable with Big Brother maintaining a comprehensive biometric database on all citizens. They already have too much information about ordinary law-abiding citizens as it is.

IDing you by the LEO is not a crime whenever is justified by law.
IDing you as a citizen is half the measure needed to control illegal immigration. I guess both GOP and Dem are happy to see some 12,000,000 floating around.
Feds already have my bio info taken at a border of entry. All Citizens are asked to show an ID (passport) when entering USA.

ICE/BP did an iris scan on you when you entered the country? When was that?

Notwithstanding my personal views about this, I would think that when someone suggests that Holder "go after a political party," he might read the XIVth Amendment, and this time focus on the words "No State shall...."
I hope this doesn't sound Trollish. It is my take only on this subject. My wife, when she took her citizenship test back in 1986 had to prove to the examiner that she had a working comprehension of the English language, both written and spoken. She also had to know much of the U.S. history as well as current events. I helped her study at length so that she could pass, prior to me deploying. To put this in today's perspective, she also has a friend who just failed her citizenship exam, due to her lack of English skills. So why, when I go vote I see the voting selection written both in English and Spanish? Who has been born here in the U.S. of today, that has not been exposed to the English language and/or attended a school where English is taught? Matter of fact aren't we paying extra for kids who were not fully exposed to the English language, to attend an English headstart? So, aren't we in fact, knowingly, allowing Illegals not only the vote but have made it easier for them to do so? Where else does a Nation give everyone, including the majority of Illegal's not only the chance to vote, but to vote in their own language? Not saying all Illegals are from Spanish speaking states, but I sure don't see these voting cards written also in Korean, Chinese, German, Vietnamese, Sanskrit, or whatnot.

I remember that song from Tom and Jerry!
My 02 cents. I dont care how poor you are, every poor person I run into has ID. They need it for welfare, utilities, checks, etc. I have never met a person who didnt have ID, you just cant get by easily without it.
