In the article Don't Comply is standing with anti-police protesters by openly carrying long guns and the leader of Don't Comply is carrying a gas mask as part of his kit. Now you may not recognize the name Don't Comply, even though they have been active in the Open Carry protest scene from the beginning, but maybe you recognize the name of one of their activism fronts: Come And Take It (Clarification: This CATI is the so called gun rights Group, not the podcast).

This last week OC activists, mostly from OCT, has seemingly been on a mission to scuttle any pro-gun legislation with the planned march in front of Austin PD, a number of videos where OC activists are interacting with police (double facepalm moment for the one where the OCT member keeps asking if he is being detained after being told he was). CJ Grisham has reportedly posted to the closed OCT Facebook group begging for money to sue the DPS over the Austin arrests, and more idiocy on the open carry front.

It seems with the more critical time gets for legislation the more insane the open carry movement is getting. While this has traditionally been the case it has never been quite this bad at this point and I am just waiting for the attacks on the NRA/TSRA and the people that are working to ensure pro-gun legislation passes to get ratcheted up to a whole new level. So I will ask of the Open Carry Movement: Please stop helping, just stop it. Seriously stop it now, before you do any more damage.

To be perfectly honest: no I don't, I think they are far worse. I honestly think they read too much into the left wing propaganda about the power of protests and demanding your way. I think they are too eager to get results, too impatient to wait, and too inexperienced to actually have a positive effect. I believe that too many are "Libertarian Socialists" who think that somehow libertarianism and socialism are compatible and they buy into all the left wing social issues while making exceptions for their view on the bill of rights while others are simply looking for a cause to fight for. Do I believe they are actively working for the opposition, no I do not but I think they are the most effective tool our opposition has. I will also say that some from both camps inside the OC activism sphere are actively looking to start a "glorious revolution" so that they can get the change they want or live out their post apocalyptic fantasies road warrior style. But I do not think they are actively working for the other side, but they are not working for our side either.

The word is there is a deal to amend HB910 (House OC bill) with Campus Carry and pass it. Constitutional Carry is dead, it will not get a hearing in either house mostly because of the in your face antics of OCT/OCTC/CATI along with the actions of certain members of their leadership (especially Kory Watkins).
